Everyone has a budget, if I had unlimited money i would probably get the 550i, but I even started looking at the 523i so i feel im getting a beast of car as it is. I never cared for the 3-series, its just too small and looks insignificant next to most cars. Especially the estate.

Exactly. I buy the car i want to drive and enjoy and it makes little difference to me that aome othe random car can potentially outrun me. This thread could not be any stupider. 5 series is a sport luxury sedan as is 528 and 520 and for those who dont realisze that - go buy youself a 330d or subary impreza for instance. I smule every time when someone in a cheaper faster car tries to prove something to me and then spin their tires when i pull away.
My f10 535xi was not rendered useles when that video came out. It still is the best car i have ever owned and i did own several 5 series bmws. Quote:

What Is The Point Of Owning A 50k Slow Petrol Bmw? If You Cant Understand Why I Have A 335d Touring When A 535i Is The Same Price Then You May As Well Become A Lexus Owner.

But could you please stop bitching about your happiness and about this pointless video where a 335d apparently outruns an F10 535i? No one cares anyway.

Unlike some (many?) I didn't buy this,my first BMW,with off-the-line speed in mind. And I won't buy the 5 Series diesel (if one ever arrives in North America) for that reason either. But the torque...which results in effortless acceleration..is very very cool.As is the 42mpg I easily get on the Interstate.

I Think its also important to point out the size difference in a 535 v 335. 335 is not much of a family car if everyone wants to have some room. I think its always important to realize that this huge array of cars BMW presents is so that people can make good buying decisions based on many factors not just one in their lives.

Anyways, what do both of these cars have in common? They'll both get the snot beat out of them by American V8 muscle for half the price and aren't really "fast" in the first place. Heck, my Toyota isn't too far off of these 0-60 times. If speed is what you want, what's the point of buying a 50k "slow" BMW whether its petrol or diesel? If speed is really what I wanted I'd just go buy a Camaro SS or a new Mustang GT 5.0, but since it isn't I'm looking forward to picking up a lowly N52 powered 528i prior to the end of the model year.

Hey delvek, I think you got it pretty wrong there. steVTEC was actually talking in favour of BMW. Like he wrote, BMW is more than a massive, heavy engine. If that's all I'm looking for there are plenty of alternatives. But if you're looking for power AND control there aren't as many alternatives.
