M-Sport Package Exter Color Issue

I went to place my order for a 2013 550i for euro delivery. I added M-Sport package and the dealer told me that the sapphire metallic black was not available w/ that option. The only black i could get was the Jet Black. The carbon metallic black is more dark/navy blue.

I find it odd that I can't order Black Sapphire Metallic with the sport package. I am having to chose between the two. I really want the M-sport but at the same time the Jet Black seems too flat and i have read reviews that it is a very soft pain that shows swilrls very easily. Is there anything i can do? Black Sapphire Metallic is available for the M5, i don't see why it would not be for 550i-M sport. Should i just get the sport package in jet black or skip the sport package and get black sapphire? Do i have another option in terms of a special request?

I would get the M Sport package and Carbon Black metallic. It really looks black most of the time, except under direct light. Also, it is a color exclusive to the M Sport package cars... If you don't like carbon black, then you should still get the M Sport with the Jet Black...

Nother option available to ( at extra cost though) is to chose a bmw inidivual colour. There are variations on black there, citrin. Black is one of my favourites.
Not sure if might also mean a longer lead time as well.
Worth a think.

I think paying additional 2k on top of 3k for m-sport just to get a black metallic makes it not worth it. Why would BMW reduce your color choice by adding the M-sport? And I also realized that the M5 blue metallic is not available for 550 m-sport either.

Carbon black is dark navy blue IMO, even if it looks black sometimes, it just isn't the same as having a black car.

well thats unfortuantly thats the way it is. I wanted black sapphire on my msport but decided to go for sophisto grey which I'm very pleased with.
Had to draw the line somewhere as regards costs but money no object, I'd have gone for Citrin black.
Agree plain black is a bit flat but colour is down to the individual (no pun intended) and you just have to make the choice with whats available.
It is a shame though, as sapphire is a nice colour. Had it on my previosu E39 (which was a msport......)

+1

Carbon Black is nice...I almost got it

I ended up with DG II and couldn't be happier. I get tons of compliments on it. Might be worth considering....

We have debated this many times. I had the same issue because I wanted DSB and got Imperial instead.

If I was you (i.e. not liking Carbon Black), then I would get Dark Graphite. It is much easier to maintain than Jet Black or Black Sapphire, and it has a very glossy gunmetal look which I think is quite sexy.
