F10 N63 Air Filters

How do you remove the air filters for he 550i?
Anyone have a DIY? Or photos?
I hear the filters are pretty restrictive .

To be clear it is the charcoal filters which are redundant to the actual filters that people are removing. I am sure you knew that but I want to be clear for others that might read this.

To remove the charcoal filters (if equipped) you need to remove the top of the air boxes. This is a pretty straightforward process once you pop off the top/center engine cover (pull right up).

You'll need a torx driver and a bit of patience - but once you have the tops removed you'll need to snap the filters that are inside the lids out. Sometimes they are glued or plastic welded in so you may need to use a bit of force. The end results do seems to be consistently pleasing as dyno results show a few HP gain.

Great thanks mr Tuesday.
I would assume it would be ok to delete the filters unless I drive through dust storms or floods lol

When you open up the filter boxes its the carbon filter you want to remove, not the regular paper filter that is in place.
