Consumer Reports takes the 7 Series to task for being “a ponderous, technology-laden vehicle with ungainly handling,” and is included in the publication’s lists of lowest-scoring cars, worst overall values and most expensive operating costs in its class. Not to pile on, but it also gets a rock-bottom resale value rating from ALG and a below average performance score from J.D. Power.

They haven't driven the 740Ld

Plus Forbes's statements are harmless since the g11 is right around the corner.

The F10 (2011 550) has also hit the consumer reports list of used cars to avoid based on it's poor reliability.

With all respect, I disagree.

Even Brian Cooley liked the 740Ld.

Plus, is it really fair to take parting shots on a platform that's now obsolete?

I like the 7 because it's understated, conservative, and fun to drive.

I challenge anyone to drive a 2015 740 Ld and walk away disappointed. Even the fact that the platform has expired, BMW has kept the tech relevant over the years. The U.S. spec. Msport edition 740Ld has its own unique personality that is truly fun.
