Exhaust Options for 535
Hey guys,
So the next on my list (besides wheels) is an exhaust upgrade but I'm not exactly sure what to do with this car. My last car (08 Benz C300) had a resonator delete + muffler delete which made it sound awesome but the drone was just too much. This being more of a "family" car, I kind of want a loud noise at high range RPM but not so much drone that I cant take it on road trips. Thoughts on these? - Easy one is Muffler Delete. For those that have it, is drone an issue? is the sound good (I've seen every youtube video on it but its soo low quality)? - A real muffler? AKA Mangaflow or whatever? What did you get? How does it sound/drone? - Do I even want to mess with resonators? Thank you! |

I would say that if you want a nice and deep sound that doesnt make you deaf go with M5/M6 mufflers. Their sound is subtle at low rpms and during acceleration they make you believe you are actually driving an M car. They fit without problem and makes your ride look more agressive with their quad tips.

It really depends on how much you're willing to spend. If you want the best and have deep pockets, go Eisenmann, Armytrix, Dinan. Quality stuff but expensive for most people's budget. The nicest exhaust I've ever owned was a Remus and it's been, by far, my favorite exhaust in terms of sound, no drone and quality build. I'm running a set of M5's right now and had to close the outer flaps because with all 4 open, it's pretty loud and does drone. I could only take 3 days of it, plus I have a wife and baby I drive around. If an exhaustmeister can work in a N55, it'd be perfect paired with the M5 mufflers. For less than that, I'd go with Megans before any kind of delete.

I have the M Performance exhaust. A lot of folks don't think it's loud enough, but it's perfect for me.

I went with M5 mufflers, X Pipe in place of the resonator, and custom J Pipes to reduce drone. I like the setup so far and have received compliments on it

the best thing to do in your situation is get a downpipe. the gains will be huge compared to an axle-back/cat-back and it will be quiet when cruising, yet very loud when you step on the throttle. |

8 months ago I did the muffler delete and was very satisfied. It cost me around $300 and went with dual tips on each side. It sounded great and there was a little drone but definitely doable as it didn't bother me at all (matter of opinion). I did it for the sound and I'm sure there was no HP gain.

Has anybody installed the ExhaustMeister on a 535i? I didn't think the 535i m sport had the vacuum switch. I know they don't have the valves but are the switches still there?
