Best exhaust for 550i?
Recently I got an n63tu 550i M sport, and the first thing that needs to change is the exhaust. Any recommendations?
Megan is on the cheap side but not sure how it sounds. M5 comp package mufflers brand new are around $2300. Not bad as they do sound pretty good especially when the resonators are deleted. Cheapest route would be to find some used one but it looks like they don't come up very often. |

Just wait it out deals will come around as the weather geta better and mods will start to happen and pretty sure you can get a set of M5
mufflers. it comes in waves when they are for sale. I bought a set then not to soon after a cat back CP exhaust came up for sale and jumped on that, then sold my extra set to another member. worth the wait. |

Thanks guys, I thought about the xpipe route but I think I am going to get some M5 CP mufflers. I'll just wait and hopefully someone will ship if they are not in the bay area

Yes go for m5 comp pack exhaust if you can
you will need a few m5 specific exhaust parts (ie the cross member and bushings) and an m5 diffuser (or any diffuser made for an m5) and the m5 bumper adapter etc... i paid around 1g for my exhaust (it was unbolted from a 2015 m5 comp package from the downpipes back). only had 400 miles on it. I had my shop install it from the resonators back (kept my stock resonators) the seller also included this http://exhaustmeister.com/ which allows me to control the exhaust valves on my stock exhaust and now on my m5 comp package exhaust. cost me another 800 with installation/parts. our stock exhaust comes down in one piece as does the m5 comp package exhaust. my shop cut behind the resonators and welded on clamps so that if i ever want to change out my resonators out its easier, and its easier to drop the exhaust in 2 pieces. i couldve spent less but was really impressed with the quality of work, so money well spent imho... i have the cyba 90mm tips waiting to go on (stock is 80mm) best part about this exhaust, it has a slight rumble once warmed up, just to let you know its there, and with the radio at a reasonable volume, you can hardly hear it inside the cabin when i open the valves using the exhaust meister, it now sounds louder, and you can def hear it inside the cabin. BUT NO DRONING...we've taken the car on long roadtrips and my wife hasn't complained one bit...about the noise. Last thing i wanted to do was introduce drone or any related noise on a car that retailed for 85k new... here are some pics/vids stock 550i diffuser, i could have kept it as it didn't look all that bad You can see where they cut the diffuser to make the tips fit. installation finished product. youtube clip phone is placed on the rear bumper valves are open |

Thanks I decided to go the M5 exhaust route. Is the CP exhaust different from the regular M5? I can't find separate part numbers, just the regular one and the performance one which is like 8K

CP exhaust is a bit louder i believe, has a few 'less' baffles than the standard m5 exhaust, and it has the black tips. but those can be swapped out easily...
did u find the mufflers used? |

I have the M6 comp pkg mufflers and its been the best investment for my ride. Sound is just perfect. It doesnt sound too strong. It produces a sport throaty sound when you push the pedal. You can hear music and talk with passengers without increasing your voice.

I have RPI mufflers from an F10 M5 on with some custom piping from the rear resonators. Sounds fantastic. Also installed OEM M5 diffuser, insert and bracket for fitment as well. I'm going to do a x-pipe next.

don't have any specific brand or seller. its all generic. different seller, different price same item. lol! just buy the cheapest one. I bought the one with the elbow to direct the exhaust sound/vibration and fumes down. if you need any help on wiring let me know.
