Do any of them? I keep reading reviews that seem to suggest they all have a weakness... just which has the fewest weaknesses and gets the most frequent updates (comparable to anti virus). The reviews seem to suggest LI and Blinder HP-905 are the top choices. I've seen AL discussed as well but doesn't appear as popular?

There is one LIDAR that currently none of the laser jammers can jam. The good thing is that I expect this to change.

Don't be fooled by frequent updates. The only times updates need to be when new LIDAR guns are released or with the Laser Ally (DALA), they change the pulse rate.

The mat recent LIDAR guns that have been released are:
Dragon Eye Compact (DALA compact) and Stalker X series in 2013
Kustom Prolaser4 and Truspeed S in 2011
Laser Ally in 2010.

Basically lidar guns are not released all that frequently, and the laser ally doesn't change their pulse rate that often. Most of the laser jammer firmware updates are to correct errors in previous firmwares not to provide protection for new LIDARS or DALA pulse rates.

Right now the Laser Interceptor doesn't jam the Stalker X series, LTI Truspeed S under 300 feet, most of the Laser Allys, and has some problems with some LTI LIDARS.

The Blinder hp905 does not jam the Poliscan which is a fixed speed camera that is used in Maryland. The blinder doesn't jam the Laser Ally and also has some problems with some LTI guns.

The AntiLaser Priority performs better than the Laser Interceptor and Blinder. It isn't as popular in the US, because Antilaser is new to the US, only being sold here since the fall 2013. In most European countries., it is the best selling laser jammer and has been in business for more then a decade.

This is good to know. I'll spend some time looking into AL.

If yuo're averse to the V1, I think the Escort MAX and a Laser Interceptor is the way to go. No panels to pry other than the side of the center console, and that one is screwed in anyways. The biggest decision is where to put the on/off button - on 2 of my cars I mounted it like a factory switch by drilling a hole in the location I wanted it - with the BMW I hid it in the ash tray because I don't smoke and there wasnt a great place to put it out in the open that looked factory.

As fa as weather, I have had no issues in 5+ years of running laser interceptors on 4 different vehicles (Porsche, Corvette, F150, 535i). The Porsche was driven in winter, and the F150 still is.
Except when you drive for long periods of time each day and the detector/jammer is constantly running right in front of your head, I have to wonder how much "leakage" of radio signal your "grapefruit" is getting on a daily basis? I'd opt for the remote install, regardless of the cost. Of course, if you get caught with a jammer, the police will be tearing your car apart to remove the "evidence" for court, at your expense. the window mount just lifts out.

My understanding is the operator aims at a headlight as they know most detectors are windshield mounted. Jammers are iffy and should not be trusted in areas that are known for there use. Chances of getting caught with a jammer would only be if you are not traveling in a group of cars. I've been lucky as most of my driving is patrolled by Ka and the V1 is great unit for finding them.

Been a while and forgot to update this thread with my install photos.

My shop and I figured out a few custom touches to make the radar/jammer combo seem even less noticeable. I had my shop near me do the install in Connecticut (High Fidelity Autosport). They fix all the bad dealer installed kits (9500ci) as the dealer's never seem to aim the laser jammers properly. They re-aim and fix the installs for all the high end cars dealerships in our area.

Here's my install:

Front LI Jammer Heads:

Front Beltronics Radar Detector mounted behind center mesh grill:

So for the rear jammer heads, I didn't like how the jammers would be exposed if we just taped them on. So my shop ordered special infrared transmitting plastic to allow the jammer heads to be hidden, but still fully functional. I haven't had any issues with the pods or covers, and it's been a full year or so with them (knock on wood). We'll be doing the same with the front jammers in the kidneys to give the front end a cleaner look.

Close up of rear "pod" or cover.

Both pods from a little further away:

And the main control unit was mounted in the dash for easy viewing, and the buttons for the unit are mounted in the ash tray (no picture, but nothing special).

Could I get a few more pictures of the display unit? I love the way it's mounted and my Belt STiR+ is going to be installed shortly and wanted to give the shop some pictures to work off of. My other idea was in the rear-view mirror...

I'll try and get some more, my car is currently in for service for brakes so it'll be a day or two.

Here's a video of a similar install on a 750 done by my shop as well.
