New wheel question

Hi. I'm new to all this so I thought I'd ask the BMW fanatics here for help...
I have a 2012 550xi non-sport. I currently have 18" stock wheels with 245/45R18 tires on both front and back.

I want to upgrade the 351m 19" wheels. I keep seeing conflicting info on this board about having to use the same size on the front and back, but others are saying you can use staggered wheels. My car has an x drive so I'm just confused.

Thanks in advance!

Staggered setup is defaulted for European F10. Therefore, it should be fine for North American car too. But there is always a very slim chance the computer may be sensitive, depending on how the car is programmed at the factory.

Therefore, for the 351 wheel, you will need the rear wheel to be 19 * 9 et 44 BMW Part 36117842653. Tire is 275/35/19.

btw, those 351 wheels are very heavy. they are 33 lbs each. If you want to get the better wheels, go forged as they would weigh in around 22 lbs each (If you are not too concern about spending around $1100 per wheel - no tire)

Thanks for the response! I guess it'll make more sense to just get the same size all around and not go staggered on the off chance my car is picky and see the stagger as an error.

What are the draw backs of having heavy wheels on the car? Forged sounds real expensive...

google "unsprung wheel weight" and you will see lots of responses ... some from technical standpoint and others are simply logic.

If no forged, there are others aftermarket that will have lower wheel weight.

You can order the x drive with 351 staggered wheels with the Msport Package.
Swo if it come staggered from BMW it is ok.

Its the over all height of the wheel/tire combo that can throw things off, not the width. Just make sure the overall height of the front and rears match each other as best as possible

You want to make sure the front wheels and rear wheels are rotating and spinning at the same rate/revolutions pr minute, so that the internals dont get thrown off.

So many things to consider...What's the best way to go? Staggered or square? I don't have the sport package but my 550 is an x drive. I don't want any errors coming up.
I'm pretty set on going with the 351m wheels.
