2014 550 Couple questions….Not new to forum

Long story long; Dec of 21 I jumped into a 2014 F10 w/ 21k on the clock. I had an E60 545 previously got a lot out of that car but miles were approaching 200k and didn’t feel like putting anymore money into it, I did majority of my repairs so ownership was not a headache. Fast forward to present day my 550 has 38k on it and runs to perfection I enjoy the car. Done quite a few mods to it. Car came with a Dinan tune and Dinan exhaust. Idk what the power felt like stock but currently the car feels great. After owning the car for a while I’m starting to feel like I want a little more out of the car. I have been considering going with BM3 stage 1 but I am very reluctant because I do not want my car to become unreliable or something happening to the engine. I know stage 1 is a pretty mild tune but I’m just very unsure at the moment. Anyone running this time long term? I keep most of my cars for quite a while so this car will be here to stay. Car is not my DD as my E60 was.

My other question is I’m considering ARM intakes for the car does anyone advise against this? I’ve seen pros and cons for the intakes. I just don’t want my car having issues because of these mods. Aesthetically my car is solid feeling like I want a little more under the hood at this point. I’m not going catless I don’t feel like dealing with swapping for inspection ETC. sounds awesome I just don’t want to deal with it.

All advise is appreciated

Nice ride! I also have a 2014 550i, bought it new, love the car, I currently have 189,000 miles on the OD!!!
Stills runs awesome and had no trouble with the car. I am not familiar with the BM3 but I have been running the piggy back plug in to the MAF dials to the highest setting on 93 pump since 10k on the OD, no issues what so ever. You might be able to stack it on top of the Dinan tune. I’d recommend checking with Burger on that 1st.

I also picked up a 2021 850i and can tell you that the 850 feels stronger than the 550 with the Burger, probably because of the 100 Flbs of torque higher, but the 550 is not too far behind.

Thank You.... Thats super refreshing to hear. I sold my 04 545 6MT 2 years ago car had 184K on the clock still ran strong have some oil leaks and valve stem seals need replacing I couldn't justify the money it would have needed. Got ya thats a long while definitely tested over time, lol. So you're running JB4 correct? I looking to get away from a piggyback as I have read the best tune would be an ECU flash to get the most out of the car. The dinan tune I believe is somewhat of a piggyback tune but it does not plug into the MAF only the ECU. Nice, man few of those floating around on this end they look good never driven one though. 100ft lbs of torque would make a big difference on the *ss dyno I can see why it would be and feel faster.

stick with the dinan stuff, and get the intercoolers/air intake on the forums/facebook market place/ebay...

my $.02 the dinan stuff together creates a more reliable/usable package...these motors are complex as it is...best to not throw shitty aftermarket parts at it and break things...(speaking from personal experience)

Love the M5 wheels! I also agree with the Dinan route. However if you are handy, you can do it yourself. There is a guy that did a YouTube video about it. You just have to find the CF tube with the MAF sensor connector in it. Search for the Splitt Show.

Going to stick with my current set up don’t want to go through the headaches I don’t have the time I used to when I had the N62 to wrench. I do most of my repairs don’t want to add to the current maintenance. If you’re referring to “the split show” I have definitely seen that vid. From what I can gather the intakes is purely a sound and look mod many say it’s hasn’t done much in terms of performance. Going to buy some KW’s and maybe a 6WB. Called the mods a day for now I’ve done a few things. While
Iconic I think I’ve been looking at the BMW orange for to long between this car and my old one.
