Aside from the touring bodystyle, the B5 Touring is otherwise unchanged from the Alpina B5 Sedan. Which is to say, its a V8 Twin Turbo monster pushing out 500HP and capable of speeds upward of 300 km/h or (190MPH) and 0-60 in 4.8seconds. Not bad for a vehicle which can do double duty as family hauler and grocery getter.

This vehicle also fills a unique niche, as there is no Touring version of the new M5, this will be the most powerful Touring available with a BMW badge at the moment.

Here is what Autocar had to say about the B5 Touring
Quote:
To understand the B5 Touring you need to put yourself in the mindset of someone who is a) extremely wealthy, b) likes driving fast, preferably down quiet, derestricted autobahns in order to avoid having to fly, and c) also wants a quantifiably comfortable car to drive. People who buy Alpinas are not people who can’t afford a factory M car. They are people who don’t want such a manic driving experience as that offered by an M machine, but who want the same kind of straight line performance.
Quote:
Yet for a specific type of customer, there is little else to touch a B5 Touring. We drove this car from Alpina’s factory in the middle of Bavaria back to the UK, which was the perfect environment in which to sample its mile eating capabilities. It’s hard to think of many other cars that would have felt so comfortable over the same journey, or as quick, and which could have swallowed so much kit while returning just over 25mpg.

I would give my left nut for this car.

Hell, I'd love just a standard F11 in the US. And yes, i would have put my money where my mouth was. I almost purchased about 3 E61's but the N54 debacle scared me as I plan on owning the car until about 100k to 120k.

I just turned a 100k this week with my E61. Only one HPFP, that's it! Get 28-30mpg at 75mph on the freeway, love it. My wife's 135 has been equally as flawless, but only 20k so far. I guess I can chalk this up to good "Carma"

I'd love one of these as well. This is one of the few cars where I think the touring is better looking than the sedan.

My wife's E61 has had some issues but none of them HPFP related. Regardless, it's one of the best cars we have owned - extremely versatile all-year vehicle that doesn't drive like a truck. Very fun!

That Alpina is beautiful!

Front needs blacked out grills or something, just looks a lil odd...

My E61 shall live on until BMW decides to import the F11, or it falls apart. Not before.

Maybe a stupid question but isn't it possible to import the F11 yourself?

I mean, certain US cars that are not on sale in Europe, get imported here as well.

Indeed. I loathe the trend towards gaping-mouth front ends lately. "What up with that??". Would definitely have to graft the M5 front end on that thing...

He could probably get 2 F10s in the USA for what it would cost to buy a european F11 and import it.

Absolutely! You just would be able to park it in you garage and never use it.

Seriously, no way to do this.
