2011 528i
who knows about this model? I specifically made sure to buy this because I was scared away by the turbo issues and did not want to go through the burden of picking out RWD examples from a long list of xdrives (RWD was a must for me) looking on the market, it is infested with xdrive 535i's. people seem to be holding on to these NA ones.
this year, and this model only got the N52 engine and Xdrive was not available. they are dirt cheap on the market right now. you can tell these models apart from the style 327 stockies although some people buy them from BMW as their winter set. anyways, I got a late model build (end of november) and the car has been impeccable. its very solidly built inside and out and the drivetrain has been pretty damn solid. currently at 120k KM and I am still on the original plugs, coils and injectors! who else out here has a RWD F10? anyone got the same model as me? I delete the secondary cats and installed a magnaflow muffler recently sounds great and I freed up an easy 5hp from doing this. I am really enjoying the 8 speed auto paired to this engine. |

until benz introduces the inline 6 turbo, I would probably choose the 5 series if I had to pick now. once the e class inline 6 comes out I will have to drive both because I am becoming quite torn between the two. always love BMW but the new mercedes are nice |

I have a 2011 528i as well. Could use more power, but there really isn't any cost effective ways to accomplish this my knowledge. The engine is very smooth, and very reliable and not having turbos to worry about is definitely a plus.

we do have a 3 stage manifold, but the third stage is not properly optimized (4500rpm+) which is why we have 221 ft/lb of torque, but only 240hp. with a tune, high flow exhaust and catless headers you are looking at roughly 280-285HP and almost 250 ft/lb of torque (crank) which would be enough for a car of this size. prices for this would range from $1500 with installation (absolutely cheapest) to roughly $2500 at the very most expensive, with catted legal good quality headers. is it worth the $2000? I dont know, maybe not for everyone but for me it is certainly worth the naturally aspirated goodness with headers. anyways, since its not doable I deleted my secondary cats and upgraded the muffler (you can hear the exhaust now, but still a touch too quiet, roughly 5hp gains from this) I have simple done other things to make me happy with the car. tinted the windows, exhaust, etc. will one day install coilovers. what colour is yours inside and out? mileage? I am at 75k miles silver on beige interior. love the car |

try a secondary cat delete, and upgrade the muffler if you actually want to hear the exhaust.
