It's the easiest thing ever when you don't overthink it.
Double tap the start/stop button so your car is off. Quickly, hold the wiper lever up as far as it will go for a few seconds. That's it. Works flawlessly 100% of the time in both of mine that have this wonderful "feature"

Or you can just pull them up a little. That is what I do when it snows so they don't get stuck to the window

I changed the wording from stalk (I thought people would know what thing would make the wipers work ,my apologies) to "wiper lever".

Yeah, BMW probably over-engineered them by making an easy way to get them into the fold out position instead of just tugging on them

How do you get all the doors to unlock when you shut off the car? I hate getting out, going to the rear door and...it's locked! Does this have to be coded or can I get them all to unlock when I exit the driver's door?

BMW's used to have a feature where you could put on your left or right indicator after parking and it would put on your front and rear indicator light (without flashing). I found it useful when temporarily parking in low lit areas so that your car wouldn't be clipped by passing traffic. Used to use the feature on my E46's all the time. I was bummed when I realized the feature wasn't available on my F10.

That can easily be coded and it is clearly not an issue with cars that have Comfort Access.

It IS available on the F10. You must be doing something wrong.

What I can't figure out is why does the HVAC system need to come on at every start?

Sadly that's how its designed. You have to get it coded to remember the last state it was in, I'm assuming you want it off.

My M3 used to be like that and it's aggravating that the F10 5er it turns on at start even if I had it off on the previous time. Coding is the only way, should be a setting in iDrive in my opinion.

Maybe because it's because I live in the land of perpetual sun, but why would one want the HVAC system to default to OFF and have to turn it on every time one starts the car?? Isn't that the point of AUTOMATIC climate control??

Having it default to OFF and having it remember the last setting are two different things. I can't wait to code mine to remember my last setting.

Really?? So after I shut off the car I should be able to push the left stalk (indicator lever) up or down and that should enable the feature. I have done this many times, but when I exit the vehicle the lights are not on. What am I doing wrong?
