I got a 2012 528 about 3 weeks ago put 1500 miles on it but I can't stand the engine. It is noisy and feels cheap. I got the Msports package but the car just doesn't feel right.

Any ideas on how much I will loose on a trade in? Paid abt 56k for it.

Probably as much as 15% ... but at the same time, you can get an end of MY clearance deal on the 535, at least it won't hurt as much.

If you're going to take a hit take well and go 550! I promise it will NOT disappoint!!!
I've never driven one but I can only imagine. We live and learn, some mistakes are more costly than others. Keep us posted

You will take a bath in any case. Sell the car yourself and then buy one off the lot

Listen to this guy, get the 550i and you won't regret it.

Also, try and sell the car yourself and you'll get more money.

I don't want to spend that much. I haven't seen a well packaged one for less than 70k. I am getting the 535 for $55500.

Why oh why, we buy cars lot of people dream of, after one week - 6 months we regret we didnt spec it with bigger engine, M-sport, better radio, etc etc.
I bought a 520D without M-Sport which I regret. I allways drool over the M-Sport front. I also like a bigger engine now.
Sometimes its expensive to be cheap.

You can always buy an M Sport body kit and get it fitted by a local body shop.

U are right. Being cheap can sometimes be expensive. I had the 535 as a loaner and it felt like a whole different car. You owe it to yourself to be actually sure that you can stand the 528 before buying.

Like others have said sell outright yourself and get everything you can from the car. I had thought about purchasing the 550 as well but I know that care would get me in trouble with my foot lol. I test drove and almost pulled the trigger but couldn't justify pending the additional 7K for the engine and other standard features. The MPG on the 550 is not tha great and I wanted an in between car that can get decent gas mileage and have everything I wanted. Just depends on what you are looking for. Good Luck! Did you happen to use or have the CCA discount? the extra 1k check was a nice bonus.

What is the cca discount. Deal is almost done. I am at the dealer. They gave me 50k for my ride. I paid $55,500 for it. All in all I lost 4k

You'll probably lose a lot--too bad. Did you not test drive the car before you decided to buy it? I'm surprised you did not pick this up beforehand if you did. If you did not, then shame on you.

Buy cheap, buy twice.

I should've added the electric trunk option -- next time.

You actually didn't lose anything when you factor in the sales tax credit on the trade in. How is the new 535 optioned out?

You said when you drove the 535 it felt like a different car. Well, my guess is when you drive the 550 you'll be more amazed and you would want to get rid of the 535. Go all out and get the 550

or stay away from driving a 550....that's what i'm going to do.

i agree as previous other member!

at this point might as well jump on the 550! the motor will not dissapoint for sure.

As a previous f10 535 owner, and now a F13 650, and all i can say is everytime i drive the car it puts a smile on my face. its a kind of confidence on the smoothness and power on the n63 motor.

I'd talk to your dealer and try to return the car and pay the difference plus some modest depreciation. Any year end deal on the 535i (on a dealer's lot) will also apply to the 528s he has, so if you try and sell it yourself, you can expect to have to dump the price. getting out at MY end is costly due to manufacturer's incentives.

Also, many people lease their cars and that option wouldn't be as easily available to a private purchaser.

Good luck!

Good move! I'm sure the 550i is sweet, but the 535i has not disappointed me when it comes to power and the refined feel it seems you are after. The new 4-banger did not impress me in the least.

FWIW - I at the last minute switched to a 535 from a 528 and dont regret it at all.

With the short timeframe and relative low miles, I would assume that your sale person and dealership might be able to do something for you.

Good Luck!
