Replacing the wheel hub.

Here is the situation.

I got bubble on my goodyear after being towed away.
so I went to goodyear shop to get warranty on the tire.
while it was getting replaced, I found the bend on my pass side front wheel.
So I went to fix the wheel at local wheel repair shop and the wheel got cracked by then.
After fixing, one of the guy working there said the thread of the hub is damaged and showed the messed up lug nut to me.
and he said he can't do anything but cleaning inside of thread might fix the problem.

I had an appointment at dealer after two days.
so I thought it wasn't big deal and probably solved by dealer easily.

now. my car is at dealer. after the inspection SA told me the thread of wheel hub is wrecked up and needs to be replaced.
and the cost of doing so is almost $700 plus tax.
I got the estimate paper and part were like $400 but the labor was $300 (didn't start the job yet)
Is it reasonable labor fee they are charging me?

after I heard the price and damage, I talked to goodyear store manager about that.
he said he can fix it, so bring the car to the shop.

what do you guys think?
should I just replace it for safety matter?
or give the goodyear chance to make thing corrected? (he said if something goes wrong, they gonna replace it)

if the replacement is the way to go, should I do it dealer for that cost? or any alternative way?

any helps/recommendations/comments appreciated.
thanks

OK, here's your solution. Have BMW fix it, then Good Year should pay for it. They have insurance for these things. A tire shop scratched my rim and said,
"oh we have a guy who can repair that."
I said, "OK cool, I'm sure he's awesome, but you're buying me a new rim". They said, "OK".

thanks for the info.
I'd like to do repair/replacement and give the invoice to the goodyear,
but the manager from goodyear wants to see the damage first and trying to fix it. (I know he is buying some times)
on the other hands, BMW told me it can't be fixed.

So what's my options to get reimbursed by goodyear? taking pic? letter from bmw tech?
give them a chance to fix first?

If they fooked up a tire repair what makes you think they have any idea how to fix a wheel hub. don't let them touch your car any further. Take pictures, good quality pictures. Then have the car towed to BMW dealer and have them write up the repair. Then give the bill to good year. If they wont pay it then simply state that they will be contacted by your attorney. Depending on the laws in your state and the amount of the bill you can process this through small claims court. It's highly unlikely they wont pay since they are a business with insurance and the damage is fairly nominal in the grand scheme of things.
Don't let them try and fix your car any further. You have no idea what they are going to do. BMW's are complicated, the parts are expensive and you car is still under warranty. BMW parts and repairs are under warranty. Some tire shop's work isn't.

Sounds like classic misuse of air tools. Somebody being paid minimum wage blasted your wheel bolt into the hub with an impact wrench without first threading it in by hand to ensure it wasn't cross-threaded.

It was cross-threaded and went in at high speed/torque, ruining the hub. Take it to the dealer and get the hub fixed, then make the tire shop pay.

This actually not the first time I have heard of this on BMW and many other German cars. Unlike most cars the bolts are not attached to the hub. It helps to have a wheel bolt guide, or else it's really hard to hold the wheel up to the hub. And if you use the bolt to suspend the wheel, there's a chance it's not threaded properly. And if you then use an airgun to tighten the wheel, calamity ensues. Airtools should be used to remove wheels, not attach them. It's tires 101.

The store manager responded me and he is sending me a check from the goodyear corporate.
I was hopeless and about to give up on money, but managed to win it!

Thanks gatoman and jim!!!
