The chinese ebay kits are pretty much all the same, with a 2014 F10 you should have NBT and then you should be able to program it to change the color in the Nav screen. They are ok, but to install them you have to remove the holder for your current ambient lighting which is plastic welded. You will not be able to revert back to OEM, you will have to glue the holders back should you wish to remove the ebay kit. I think this is the easiest solution if you want more than orange/white colors.

If you just want the light to be brighter, you can also change the resistor which is in front of each LED. OEM should be 1 kOhm and you can replace it with 500 Ohm resistor.

If you feel adventerous you can also replace the OEM LED alltogether, IIRC they are PLCC LEDs. There are RGB ones available, but the question then is how to control the color, it would be possible to wire them all up, but it's a bit of a pain to do that and you will need some controller device. It will definitely not be possible to choose the color from the nav screen. It would be possible to hook the controller up to Can-Bus, but that's some real custom stuff you have to do then.

I went the full overkill route and got some WS2812b 5mm RGB LED Strips in all my doors (5m roll, 60LEDs/m). Got the power from the softclose and put a 12V to 5V converter in. An Arduino is in my glovebox and wired to every door to control the coloring. I can connect to the Arduino with my phone and change the color via an App. This is the best solution in terms of brightness and coloring (each single LED can be individually colored if you wish to do that), but it's the most "botched" upgrade/retrofit.
