Thanks, I assume I have to load three files then? I guess I should just wait until the instructions arrive... impatient!

I guess that's for the CIC, for my NBT I needed 32GB.

Yep CIC, three files currently downloading circa 5gb each compressed.

Upgraded mine the other day, key learnings are that you need at least two usb drives and they have to be formatted to FAT32. My 16GB usb formated to FAT32 and was ok with the first set of files however my 64GB usb would only format to EXFAT on my Windows 8 laptop, I loaded the second set of files onto this and the car would not accept the usb. I figured out it must have been the format and managed to find an online programme that converted the usb into FAT32, however as you can imagine this resulted in the update taking considerably longer than it should have as I had to reload the files...

Well it was my first time attempting anything like this and just wish the instructions were a bit more detailed.

Important Notice Regarding the Europe Premium and Motion 2015-2 maps!!!

As of the 2015-2 release Europe Premium and Motion are now broken into two sections, East and West. You cannot have both of them loaded at the same time, it's only one or the other.

These are both single USB stick versions which means a single 32gb USB stick with no swapping for this update. At this time, they cannot be broken up into 3 DVDs or 3 USBs

However, the same FSC code works for both maps, so you only need a single FSC code for 2015-2 and you can change back and forth between the maps at will by reloading the other side of the maps.

Both versions are on 2015-2 now.
CIC maps (unofficial) are out now.
Check my build thread as I have updated mine.
Officially they are due to be out mid June.

Edited: sorry did not realise that another forum member has already updated this thread.

Hi Makkan

Can I ask how did you generate the map code from your FSC code?

I'm currently running 2014-1 but wish to move to 2015-2 WEST.

The BMW-FSC-NBT (CIC) from 2014 does not list the European WEST Premium 2015-2, the latest version it holds is 2014-2 (which was never released).

Thanks

You can contact Dracon to generate FSC code for you.
Or ebay listings.

If you know a coding person near you, then the coding person can connect ESys to your car, read a data file from your car and generate a FSC code (hopefully for free).... else you can buy off numerous websites or Dracon.

Hi Makkan, gspannu

I have a cable and pulled the FSC code via the SWID utility when I purchased the car to update 2010 to 2014 maps, through utilision of the BMW-FSC-NBT code generator.

So I could be partially there...

Would you be able to give me any further hints? Or even link to another thread I can follow on a DIY basis to generate a map code.

I appreciate you help.

Thanks tmarshall

I actually worked it out using a US based thread on this site and amended the lookup.xml file within the BMW-FSC-NBT download.

I'll update when I am back from holiday in 3 weeks, once I have 32gb memory stick. And confirm it works.

I should also set up thread explain to others how I amended the file from scratch so that others can benefit.

-------------------------------------------------------
Extracting the DE or 1B file:
Fire up E-sys make sure your connected to the F10 (not F10_Direct) via your VIN and then in the left hand vertical menu select FSC Extended.

For NBT (DE File):
In the Parameter section enter:
1. Diagnostic Address (hex) = 0x63
2. Click on the Identify button and the Base variant HU_NBT will be populated
3. Application ID for NBT= 0xDE
4. Upgrade Index = 0x1

For CIC (1B File):
In the Parameter section enter:
1. Diagnostic Address (hex) = 0x63
2. Click on the Identify button and the Base variant HU_CIC will be populated
3. Application ID for NBT= 0x1B
4. Upgrade Index = 0x1

In the Action section:
5. Select Store FSC and move from left to the right
6. Click on the Read button
7. Click Save and and name the file in the following format XXXXXXX.fsc where XXXXXXX is last seven letters/numbers of your VIN or your donor NBT vin if you have retrofitted the NBT.
8. [Optional] You can now disconnect e-Sys from your car as the next stages can be performed offline.

Getting the Code Generation Software:
Unzip the directory attached. The directory can be placed/run from anywhere.

Generating the FSC code using the BMW_CIC_NBT_FSC_Generator for NBT:

If you are generating NBT, copy fsc.exe in the NBT_FSC directory to the tools directory

1. Place your XXXXXXX.fsc into your tools directory (same location as the Base64.exe)
2. Open a command prompt (DOS Screen) and go to the tools directory
3. Type "Base64 XXXXXXX.FSC XXXXXXX_000DE001.FSC" and press enter
4. Open BMW-FSC-NBT-Generator.exe
5. Click "Browse" and select the XXXXXXX_000DE001.FSC file you generated in step 3, it should be in your tools directory.
6. Choose your map product from the list (For me it was "Road Map EUROPE NEXT 2015-2)
7. Click "Generate"

Generating the FSC code using the BMW_CIC_NBT_FSC_Generator for CIC:

If you are generating CIC, copy fsc.exe in the CIC_FSC directory to the tools directory

1. Place your XXXXXXX.fsc into your tools directory (same location as the Base64.exe)
2. Open a command prompt (DOS Screen) and go to the tools directory
3. Type "Base64 XXXXXXX.FSC XXXXXXX_0001B001.FSC" and press enter
4. Open BMW-FSC-NBT-Generator.exe
5. Click "Browse" and select the XXXXXXX_0001B001.FSC file you generated in step 3, it should be in your tools directory.
6. Choose your map product from the list (Road Map EUROPE PREMIUM 2014-1)
7. Click "Generate"

Preparing the USB stick:
Takes about 45 mins to upload the Maps to your car; make sure you enter the code in CAPITALS, it has been said that you should have the car on/running during this period. But for me just pressing the Start button once was enough. Once the update is done, you will get a success message, wait a few minutes then turn the car on/off and then the version number will reflect the new map.

Backup your FSC file!!!
Save your XXXXXXX_000DE001.FSC file, you can now just refer to this file and generate as and when the new maps come along. If you lose this file you will need to do the extraction steps again.

Attachment contains the updated XML file for 2015 maps.
Attached Files

What a pain - a few years ago I drive to Hungary, with this new map set i'd be unable to do this without sitting by the side of the road for an hour updating again.

Particularly irritating for those who live in Austria I'd imagine not having the neighbouring country on the same map set. Whilst I understand the all-in-one map got too large a lot of that was because it included all of Russia and would allow you to plot a route from London to Vladivostok!

I've just used the guide to update my NBT Maps and it worked first time. Took about 45 mins for the maps to uploaded.

Some help please

I have downloaded the Europe West Premium maps and the instructions state that I should use 7Zip to extract these files. However 7Zip does not recognise any of the files in this folder, not sure what I'm doing wrong...
