What to use to clean inside muffler tips?

Anyone know what this green stuff is and what I can use to clean it? It seems to be caked on pretty good, i.e. I can't just use windex.

0000 Steel wool with soapy water.

Whatever is more stubborn 0000 steel wool with gun barrel cleaner.

Combustion byproducts are similar in nature to barrel deposits.

This is for the wife's ride so I had a tough time figuring out what to put because of 2 main issues...1. wife doesn't want an aftermarket exhaust, i.e. doesn't like the sound and 2. it's a 528 so choices are very limited without cutting out the rear bucket. I found a Magnaflow cat-back on ebay for cheap so we'll see. It comes with a resonator so hopefully the sound, especially the drone, won't make her p.o.'ed at me. My car is pretty much done so I started toying around with hers

Got it! So basically it's used and it has some kind of buildup that you need to removed
