Hello all 550i owners, I'm disappointed in virtually no options for air filters for our 550's. Dinan just released an air intake system for $2G's that I think is highway robbery. Lets express our interest to K & N and have them develop at least a basic filter that is available for most vehicles. You can start by going to their product request page and filling it out. Hopefully with an overwhelming amount of demand they will make a basic air filter or potentially a cold air intake for the 550i.

If someone contacted them and offered up their car for R&D (there is an R&D vehicles needed section) i think they would be inclined to do it, or even provide them with the k&n custom filters that were made by a member here (badblack550ix I think...) so they can mass produce them or even do a special limited run.

I mean really... how hard can it be?

What prompted me to start this thread was I just got done ordering a K & N air filter for my wife's 2012 Honda Odyssey. If they can make a filter for a mini-van they sure as hell wouldn't have trouble making a filter for a 550.

I hear you... I would gladly pay around 300-350 for a filter solution. Maybe we should also hit up BMC, AFE, Piper Cross, or ITG. There is money to be made here!

Ive been making custom high flow K&N filters with scoops for months now.... it's a direct fit inplace of stock one. Ive contacted every manufacturer no one is interested... i was quoted 30k just to start production and demand is low.





Cost $400 all the 11 sec 550's run them

have you tried china ? my buddy got amazing prices from some corporations over there to start developing one of his products. Not sure on pricing tho.
