Angel eyes : differences in angel eyes brightness ?
I'm the owner of a 520D F10 with visibility package (xenon lights).
August 2010 build. I'm crossing more and more F10 these days with daylights looking much brighter than mines. Can it vary from one car to another ? Is it possible BMW improved the angel eyes brightness on the latest builds ? Last edited by karmakal; 04-14-2011 at 04:26 AM.. |

Could be a case of "The grass is greener on the other side"?

The Angel eyes do have 2 brightness levels. If they are used as DRLs they are in the "bright mode" . Headlights on or parking lights are in the "dim" mode... Actually unverfied with parking lights but 'm pretty sure it is dimmer.

BTW - how do you know that someone's lights are brighter than yours when you are driving your car? |

Thank you for the 2 brightness levels info. Didn't know that. I checked brightness on my car in daylight mode (is it the same as DRL?) and with engine on. So I suppose it's the same as when driving even if I'm not in the car unless the eyes dim when the car is not in movement. Btw, yesterday I crossed a 3 series with LED angel eyes as bright as Audi's LED. The bimmer was stopped at a traffic light. Maybe a mod ? |

personally i wouldn't want them too bright otherwise they look a bit tacky....like a cheap after market mod. i'm happy with the level mine are at now.

Ok I found the explanation. Daylight option was off in the settings.
Now its on and it looks indeed much much brighter. Pic 1 : daylight setting off Pic 2 : daylight setting on |

Yep i tend to agree when the are set onto the very bright setting , they do stand out a lot more, but do look a bit tacky like the cheap after market kits you find on other makes etc...

So if you turn off the DRL option, the halos still stay on, but dimmer? Interesting.....will have to investigate! I thought it just turned them off altogether.

Tried that. They went out the one time I did it. Tried again, and it worked. Interesting to know.

Hi,
I drive a f11 without visibility pack for one year. There are angel eyes but the brightness is less than I see on passing F10's with xenon. Is there a way to make them brighter and switch of the normal lights? It would be good to have that together with automatic light switch enabled. |

I have F10 bmw 5 series 2011 reg with a normal headlights and was wondering if there is a way to enable Angel Eyes day time running lights with bright light on it? I have seen the cable and software on ebay to do some coding but not quiet sure if that would enable what i want?

I did the same, my angel eyes stay bright even when the HIDs are on.

I have a 2014 F11 M Sport if that makes any difference, the angle eye's are bright when in automatic switch on mode i.e. light switch all the way left, but dim when in manual mode i.e. one click right from centre or two clicks from centre, personally don't find it a problem as I leave the light switch in automatic mode all the time.
