Upgraded the TV function to TV in Motion

My F10 is equipped with TV function (601). Although it comes at a hefty price tag, you can only use the TV (and DVD, Video, Internet) when the car is stationary.

Very annoying when you're watching the news in bumper to bumper crawling traffic

So I decided to get a TV-Free module (check the shot I took).
Today, my man Dennis at Snijders Automotive Amsterdam did the job. It took about 45 minutes to install. Costs 229 EUR all-in.

Regarding the module, check:

Fellow dutch Bimmer owners, check:

I'm not sure, in Europe it is optional equipment called "TV Function" (601).
I checked the BMW NA site but couldn't find it.

In The UK it costs 870 GBP.

Functionality: "...allows the Control display to be used as a television when the car is stationary. The TV function receives terrestrial analogue and digital programmes, DBV-T"

Nothing to worry about. The TV subsystem is not exactly a critical system. Messing with the motormanagement would be a different story.

Btw, the module came in a "BMW Originalteile" box.

For the benefit of anyone else looking to enable TV in motion, it can be done without messing with wiring .... take a look at this thread ... http://f10.5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=511906

Works a treat and can be reverted anytime you need to put the vehicle in the workshop.
