2013 550i CPO...or wait for 2014

First timer here -- I test drove a 2013 550i Xdrive over the weekend - F10/N63 (Prod date 3-2013) and it was truly a great driving experience. My wife was in the backseat and had no idea we were hitting 95mph on the highway. The car is a CPO, and through reading the threads here it appears as if the CPO would cover the Care package to address any issues with the (infamous?) N63 engine.

Although over the reliabilty of the N63 appears to be a mixed bag - some ppl are happy with their N63s while others not so much (from a reliability standpoint). Perhaps the fact that there is so much hoopla over the N63 engine repairs makes me not want to even get involved with this car. Which is sad because the car was incredible to drive.

Is the recommendation to simply wait for a CPO year 2014 on both the 550 and even the 535 and avoid pre-August 2013 completely?

I would probably wait for the 2014 because you get the N63TU (which seems to have addressed the problems with the N63) and the LCI changes.

As an added benefit, the N63TU has even more power and torque (445 hp and 480 ft/lbs).

What about a 535i? I mean LCI changes aside (as they're not very significant)

Different animal. I would suggest saving the added cost of a '14 and opt for a '13 535. LCI changes are rather insignificant and the N55 is the same across the board. I can attest that there is nothing wrong with a '13MY.

550i - 2014 or above, you want the LCI because the much better engine in terms of reliability and even speed/efficiency. N63TU > N63.

535 - 2013 should be okay.

I purchase 2013 550i six months ago Can't be more happier
After purchase I took my car to dealer they perform care package Note I didn't have any issues with car before care packages was performed.
I drive my car in sport mode every time I drive it.
No better feeling then stepping on it and car just fly like crazy.
I say go for it you won't regret it not matter what car you drive this day you are better of with warranty.

Thanks all - regarding buying CPOs do you all recommend getting a personal mechanic to look at the car before buying or dont feel its necessary with the CPO ?

The CPO is going to be well inspected, and of course it's under warranty if anything does go wrong, so I wouldn't do it, and I haven't on the 3 CPOs I've bought.
