N63TU Racechip Ultimate?

I saw a Racechip Ultimate thread, but there's not much information in it to back up claims.

Does anyone have this with any noticeable improvements? They have dynos on their websites, but I'm looking for actual real world numbers.

Trying to decide between this, JB or JB4.

The only tune you should be looking at is Mission Performance.

Of course a tune is the best option, but I'm not looking to flash while still under warranty.

Looks like nobody has it. I'm surprised they are still in business...

Racchip is a stage 1 similar to the JB. Overpriced in my opinion.

Jb4 is a stage 2 that delivers a lot more for a better price.

If you are staying stock, get JB stage 1
If you are after max power, Jb4 is the way to go

If warranty is a concern, get a Dinan tune

I was under the impression that JB4 deliver more power than JB, even if everything else stays stock?

Are you saying that just Racechip, or Racechip AND JB S1 are overpriced? Reason why I'm asking is because Racechip is actulally cheaper than a JB S1 for an N63TU - and you mentioned that they offer similar performance.

They are on sale for $598 currently. It's not a big difference between the two, but if I'm not updating any hardware, it sounds like JB S1/Racechip are the way to go.

Even with the "sale" it is still considered an expensive stage 1 in my opinion

You are correct, if you are keeping car stock stage 1 is the way to go

Thanks for your input. It sounds like JB or Racechip are at about the same level performance and cost wise.

BMS has JB+ and it only requires you to insert it between your TMAP connector. Takes only a couple of minutes. It's about $200. The JB4 connects to about 4 different sensors and took me about 30 minutes to install. It's around $580.

I don't know much about Racechip but the BMS product seems to be the most popular piggyback for our cars and their support is top notch.

I actually considered the JB+ but got the JB4 instead due to all the additional features (especially the logging) and glad I did.

This is for a N63TU. The JB is $599 and JB4 is $799. That is getting close to DME Tune cost territory.

Thanks for your input guys. I went ahead and ordered the Racechip. The guys at F15 forums seem to be having a lot of success with it (low 12 sec 1/4 mile) on the N63TU platform. That's pretty respectable for such a big car. Will keep you posted how it pans out.

Good choice. I had BMS stage 1 and now RC ultimate. The power gain is definitely more and the quality is better also.

I finally got a chance to install the Racechip on the 2014 650i Gran Coupe and so far I am VERY happy with it. I used to have a JB4 Stage 2 Beta on the N63 550i before and this is how I would compare them:

Presentation:

The packaging, instructions and quality of the piggyback unit itself are definitely much better on the Racechip. I feel like I'm getting a quality hardware product with the tune itself. Again, there was nothing wrong with the JB4, this just feels like a better built product. A lot of people probably don't care about this since it's always hidden in the engine bay, but I think it deserves a mention.

Installation:

Having installed a JB4 before, this was pretty straightforward. Took me less than 15 minutes as I didn't have to route the OBD2 connector to the OBD2 plug.

Performance:

I've only driven the car for 20 minutes, but the instantaneous throttle response and torque thrust are immediately noticeable. The default setting was on B, but I changed it to C before installing the the tune. The car just wants to pull like a freight train and gets up to 60 in no time. Of course it's hard to compare the tunes to each other since the N63TU has more power right off the bat, but the Stage 2 Beta was supposedly making 500 whp and the TU (butt dyno again) feels like it pulls stronger. I am not planning to add any hardware mods, which is why opted against the JB4.

Customer Support:

Ben @ RG Sport has been very helpful from explaining the product to placing the order and after purchase support. I did not have any issues with BMS, however I do feel like my questions were addressed much quicker with Ben.

Overall I am quite impressed with the product as I didn't expect this sort of (butt dyno) performance from it. I guess it's a good thing that I didn't have high expectations. Again, this is compared to the N63. I don't know how it compares to the JB on the N63TU.

Mission perfomance is the way to go, what a difference from Jb4. Honestly worth the money

What do you have your S2 setting on? I'm currently on D and no issues or codes.

I was waiting for the jb4 but now it has been released a couple days ago (as a s63tu with a custom fw), it will always have the CEL on while driving. Kinda of a bummer they would just give up on dev. Guess it is time to move on from BMS.

Considering either a RC or MP flash... obviously two different price points and I want to still get service done at the dealer
