19" tire dimensions?

hi,

i´we just bought new 19 X 8,5 inch black wheels for my alpine white 520D f10. i wonder if it will be wise/possible to fit 245/45 R19 tires on these? i know that the recomended dimension is 245/40 R19 but i want some extra comfortability and softer ride since i exclusivly drive on city roads that are bumpy and not of best quality. i´we also seen two f10´s with 245/35 R19 fitted on them and they looked too low in profile in my opinion, becaouse they didn´t fill out the wheel-well (not sure its called that). today i drive on stock 225/55 R17 that feel soft enough and i would like to keep that comfortness as much as possible on my 19 inch weels.

anybody withe some expireince that could help me?

thx in advance.

It it were me I'd stay with BMW's diameter, which the 245/40-19 will give you. Your 17's have a 679.3 mm and the 19's with 245/40-19 are 678.6 mm diameter by my quick calculation. That way the speedo, odometer, etc should match up well. 245/45-19 takes it to 703.1 mm - though not a big difference.

As to ride, I have to say the OE 19" that came on my 535i xDrive Msport DHP are not harsh at all but I have no reference to your 17's and rest of options which I'm sure are different on your car.

No doubt more side wall is better on bumpy pot holed roads.

I should mention that I don´t have adaptive suspension. do you have that on your car?

Yes, I do have the adaptive suspension, so I may not be a good guide. Just don't know.
