Active Cruise Control
When active cruise control is set and a vehicle comes within your selected range and active cruise slows your vehicle down do the brake lights come on? I had it set yesterday in somewhat heavy traffic on I-75 and the car would definitely brake to slow down. Anyone know?

Yes, brakes are used and lights come on.

But only if the brakes are actually applied right?
It is of course also possible to slow the car down without braking (like engine braking). I was wondering about this myself. I mean, in heavy traffic it is nice to know that the guy behind you has seen the brake lights come on? Especially in a situation when you're anticipating trouble like sudden congestion. But when ACC is set you cannot always tell for sure if the brakes are actually applied. Anyone?

An interesting question. My "d",equipped with the basic cruise control, clearly applies the brakes when, for example, going down a somewhat steep hill.It also applies the brakes when you pull back continuosly on the control in an attempt to lower the set speed.Would the brake lights come on then as well? Anyone know...or willing to make an educated guess?
