$3k of maintenance on a 2016 528!?

So I went to the dealership to do routine servicing, and then the service advisor slaps a paper on the desk with all the recommended maintenance that was past due. (44k miles)

- Differential Fluid (Rear)
- Differential Fluid (Front)
- Transfer Case Fluid
- Transmission Fluid
- Brake Fluid replaced
- Fuel Injection Service

All of this is apparently $3,000! So $500 for each

Can someone tell me if I actually have to get this maintenance done or if I do, then is it better to do it myself and how easy the DIY is.

So far there is 44k miles on it with only regular maintenance and oil changes. Replaced tires last year but that's it.

3k is a bit steep, rear diff is easy to attempt. front diff and transfercase requires a bit more to take off to access. Fuel service from dealer can be multiple hundreds. Transmission is not bad just have to make sure temperatures are right and correctly filling i did this with my father one has to run through gears and topping off as needed until a drip.drop. Brake fluid seen some videos of people using a turkey baster

44k miles is early for most of these services. Maybe you need brake fluid flush, this is a once every 2 year service and $200 max.

44k is definitely early. I believe recommended is 60k.

Not that I recommend this, but other than the brake fluid, all fluids are "lifetime" fluids according to the BMW. I've replaced front & rear diff, transfer case, power steering fluids and did transmission service at 84K miles. Brake fluid service was performed at around 45K first time. So you are definitely early to replace fluids other than possibly brake fluid. I think 70K-80K miles is good time to replace all fluids.

No such thing as lifetime fluids. BMW does recommend fluid changes; just extremely (IMHO) long intervals. Fluids are the life-blood of the drivetrain so I would change accordingly. I knew Ford's head transmission calibrator (he has since retired) and he said ALL cars should use the extreme service intervals if they want their drivetrains to last.

On my 535 with about 69K miles I've done the trans, brake and coolant fluids and plan on the doing the diff at my next oil change next February at around 73K miles.

Of course, there is no such thing as "lifetime fluids", my point was that 44K miles seems little too early for changing all the fluids

Don't need any of that at 44k. Just change brake fluid if it's over a couple years and stop going to the dealer for services

I personally would do the brake fluid flush, and wait to do the other fluids until around 75,000 miles. And I wouldn't ever do the injector cleaning. I would make sure to fill up with top tier premium gasoline and run some Techron injector cleaner through the tank every oil change or so.
