Can I mix oil on my 2011 F10 N55?

Hi Guys,
I live on a Caribbean island and ordered a 5 quart jug of Mobil 1 0W-40 European car Oil from Amazon for my 2011 535i F10 N55 for an oil change I just did.

Turns out I'm one quart short and cannot find the same oil on the island. I found Castrol 0W-20 on island. If I were to add a quart of the castrol 0W-20 to the existing 5 quarts of Mobil 1 0W-40 would I be t possibly doing any damage to the engine?
Thanks for your help in advance!

I've always heard it's best not to mix brands because of different additives in each brand not mixing well. And I've heard mixing different weights is fine.

As long as they both meet BMW LL-01 spec, you'll be fine.

Urban myth. If this were true, you'd never be able to change oil brands other than OEM without an engine flush or something.

0w-20 is too thin, especially for your climate. LL-01 is the best but at least A3/B4.

That makes sense. Didn't think about that.

While this is just an observation, I don't think that any Mobil 1 oils meets LL-01 specs. I am pretty sure that Castrol and Pennzoil do offer oils that do.

I would grab a quart of 5w30 over 0w20.

It is only going to be 16% of the oil in your car so it really shouldn't make a huge difference, but w20 is very thin.
