Auto Motor und Sport - test the new 530d... Five out of Five stars!

New 530d in test…

I won’t bore you with all the details. I will say the magazine gave the 530d five our of five stars! So… that’s a German thumbs Up!!

And… the 5-er Touring/Wagon variant:

BMW 530d

3.0L I6
245PS @4000 rpms
540Nm @1750 rpms (398 Ft/lbs)

EU fuel economy:
City: 7.8L/100 kph 30 mpg
Country roads: 5.3L/100 kph 44 mpg
Autobahn: 6.2L/100 kph 38 mpg

test fuel economy: min 6.2L/100 kph 38 mpg
max 10.1L/100 kph 23 mpg

CO2 levels: 162 g/km EURO5
You can pay extra for EURO6 if you wish!

Performance:

0-100 kph (62 mph) 6.8 sec
0-200 kph (124 mph) 30.1 sec
Top Speed: 250 kph (155 mph)
0-400m (1/4 mile) 14.8 sec

Braking:
100 kph to zero/stop: 38m

Base price: 52,840 euros
Price as testes: 82,300 euros

Options:
Adaptive drive: 3000 euros
Active steering: 1750 euros
Heads Up Disp: 1390 euros
Met paint: 998 euros
Navi: 3800 euros
Parking sensors: 550 euros
Surround view: 700 euros
Bi-Xeon lights: 1200 euros

The only things the magazine did not like is the high price of the car once you option it out. Also they thought that the car should come with a EURO6 rating and not have the customer pay extra for that! They also gave it poor marks for only a two year warranty (typical for German market). The warranty should be longer.

Diesel 530d for the US Market??

Does anyone know if BMW is going to bring the 530d to the US??

It seems like a "no brainer" but then again you never know.
