2011 550i Latest Dyno

Opinions are welcome!!!

Warm day in Atlanta, Outside Air Temperature 88 degrees Fahrenheit.
Hangar Temperature 82 degrees, Relative Humidity 80%.

Drove an hour to Dyno shop at moderate speeds and RPM. Did not allow much time pre-Dyno for engine cooling (mind I have been achieving 22 PSI peak boost on cooler days and cooler engine). According to JB4 log during dyno, peak PSI was 17.9 achieving 497 WHP (Dyno showed 508WHP peak RPM 20.1 PSI). I am driven to believe this setup is capable of delivering 540WHP if were patient enough to Dyne on a cooler engine or during winter in the 22PSI regime as daily JB4 log has documented.

I am not claiming to be an expert. My assessment is strictly based on daily observations and intuition , the current limiting factors are:

1) OEM Inter-coolers size and capacity are hindering Turbos Capability (4PSI Peak drop on a warmer engine high density less compressed air)

2) Fuel delivery. The High Pressure Fuel Pump seems to be limited at WOT (see JB4 Log). Apparently the High Fuel Pressure line is Plateau at WOT below the Turbo Boost levels.

3) Forced induction alone without signaling Fuel/Air Mixture, Ratio and timing is also a hindering factor. Waiting to re-flash ECU from Technica Motor Sports after BMW CCP reverting to OEM default.

Checked with the dealer on swapping with M5 HPFP and the odds are good.

Set up is Stock Turbo, OEM M5 Down Pipes, OEM M5 Exhaust, Charcoal filters removed, Burger Tuning N63 Stage 2 Piggy Back Harness A (11 PSI Fail Safe Boost). Straight 100 Octane with 64Oz Torco equivalent 114 Octane.

Nice numbers! Thats some serious octane, and by my calculations almost a $300 tank of gas!

Perfect fit. Previously had custom High Flow Cats made however OEM M5 DP'S are bar none. Picked performance with OEM DP's and sound is a growling deep tone. You have to shave a bit of one mounting brackets due to starter motor protruding.

I'm curious about the technica Motorsports tune, are you going to have your car dynoed again after re-flash? Also your Jb stage 2 numbers look very good, how much power does it make on pump gas?

My goal to get small gains with Flash Tune and top it with JB S2 . Turbos are at maximum output however no additional gains since OEM mapping is capping things out. I am led to believe Flash tune may create other opportunities to break the current plateau. At any rate the gains are good previous Dyno on 93 octane was around 475WHP. Will post numbers after setup complete.

This stuff is MAGIC. The misconception adding Torco to a gas tank equates to instant Horsepower needs to be clarified.
Torco equates to more Horsepower only if your setup is tuned to maximize forced induction, compression and timing. Torco becomes the equalizing factor (fuel lubricating/ cooling agent) by lowering fuel flash point, Kaboom, we have ignition followed by power. Exhaust is a fix in theory however exhaust has multi-variables in practicality I feel like a living proof and a testimonial to this stuff. I got cocky after stumbling on a sweet spot with pure 100 octane race fuel plus Torco. I quit using Torco when the engine cussed me out by drive train malfunctions and more. I went back to Torco and the sound of a 500 WHP humming Bee.

It doesnt give the mixing ratios on their website... its quite a bit more expensive than Torco is, and honestly they are all just Tolulene anyway (many people make their own using that). If for some reason it was more effective than Torco, it would still take quite a bit more potency to offset the difference in cost.

Alpina Turbos were perfectly mounted/matched without a hick up, new seals and all.

One comment "WOW".

I cant wait to Dyno. I think we are close to OEM Stock M5 numbers.

DSC light up around 80MPH

OEM stock M5 is mid 400s... wouldnt make that too much of a goal One of the N63TU guys on here (forgot which of you two it was) put a good beating on a M5 on video with downpipes and a tune.

Alpina Turbos

Got lucky. Forum member BMWM.D. had them listed on the forum for $500 plus shipping.
Deal of the century. I did pre-purchase homework, indeed the Alpina Turbos are of a different rating. Check the link below;

https://garrett.honeywell.com/produc...icle_year=2011

Now compare to stock 550i OEM Turbos;
