You need a black license plate frame.

Absolutely gorgeous car! Yesterday I picked up my loaded 2012 550 M-Sport w/XDrive which replaces my 2011 550 Sport w/XDrive. I love the hint of blue in the Carbon Black Metallic paint!

I agree the 550i is an awesome beast...my first V8 and I'm loving every bit of it. I have the 8sp AT and I think it's the smoothest transmission ever driven.

I'm also very impressed with the power and handling of the 550i. It is much better than I expected. Having Sport tires helps a lot.

Congrats on the CB 550 M sport-- sounds like a great vehicle you picked up. Enjoy!

Nice 1st V8 to have. I have been lucky have have had 2 other great V8s in the past:
Audi 4.2 V8 (Q7)-- stout engine, very smooth with nice torque. Power throughout the entire rpm range. Sold it at about 35k miles and the engine was still superb. I was lucky not to have an oil thirsty engine some other 4.2 owners had
e92 M3 (s65 motor)-- beautiful engine...high revving V8, have to love that. Throttle response is like none other and at full song, that engine is at home.

Only if you choose an xi. My 550i is a RWD 6-speed manual, and I'm in Massachusetts. Long live the clutch pedal!!

When it comes to acceleration, is there any noticeable difference between "i" and "xi"?
When i test drove the 535xi, it felt quicker than when i test drove the regular 535i. Because, to be honest with you, thats the only reason why i would pick the "xi".

I'm not sure -- my "butt dynamometer" isn't that accurate. Besides, for me, the lack of a clutch pedal makes the xi a non-starter. I drove one (550i, non-sport) when i was considering the car, but not since then.

Gorgeous car! I love 6speed V8 5series and will one day import a 550iM/6 F10 from North-America. BMW don't sell them anywere else.

Have you driven a E60, E39 or E34 V8 6speed and can make a comparison?

I have a registry of all 540i/6 E34 and couldn't help check all 550i/6 F10 and can therefore tell that you own the only Dark Graphite II/Everest Gray with M Sport Package of the to this day 462 built 550i/6 F10.

Regards Stephan

Yes!!!!!! Thanks for the info of my car...temporarily, I can say my car is one of a kind!! haven't driven any other 5 series 6 speed, but compared to my prior 6MT E92 M3, I feel the transmission feels as good if not better....really loving it!!

I've had the following:
  • 1992 E34 525i (5-speed)
  • 1997 E39 528i (5-speed)
  • 2000 E39 540i (6-speed)
  • 2002 E39 M5 (6-speed)
  • 2007 E92 335i (6-speed)
  • 2008 E90 M3 (6-speed)
  • 2011 F10 550i (6-speed)

While the M3 may have been a few ticks faster to 60 mph/100 kph, the F10 is the smoothest of all of the cars I've had, and the most effortless. Where you had to rev the M3, the 550 just has gobs of power, regardless of the revs. And if you drive it at all aggressively (accelerating from about 3,500 RPMs in third gear, for example), there had better be a lot of room in front of you, because you will be going fast QUICKLY.

Excellent car history....the E39 M5 is legendary!!!! Timeless car.

From BMW USA:

0-60 mph
535i - 5.7 sec
535xi - 5.6 sec
550i - 5.0 sec
550xi - 4.7 sec

Just got the center console cupholder today from the dealer.
Took all of a minute to pop off the plastic insert and pop in the cup holder.

Funny, your garage has the same cars as mine. I'm starting to hate the Odyssey though and it's only 2 months old. Electrical problems.
