It's off a 2012 535 xdrive. I can provide part number when taken off or I will find the thread of the member I purchased it from on here

This is completely irrelevant. They are all the same and they all fit the 535 just fine. BMW just changed the part # for the very same thing.

Sorry but I don't agree that it's irrelevant (to everyone).

I have a theory that the sound is different between the two models based on reading I've been doing and observations of my own PE. Half the people with a 535 w/PE say it's slightly louder than stock, their wife didn't even notice the difference etc... The other half say the drone drives them nuts. How do you know the two part numbers are exactly the same inside?

The tip situation is completely different with the later model having double-wall tips and other versions like carbon fiber and titanium. The earlier version has single wall chrome tips.

I never said they didn't fit - I said there are two models of PE spanning the 535 life cycle, and that's still true.

Interesting. I just went and looked at the box mine came in.

It is part # 18302354362, has a March 2017 production date on it , it has single wall tip just like what op posted.

Mine sounds awesome, zero drone and wife definitely noticed the difference. You can also hear the car when she is parking in the drive way or in the garage or even when she drives by as I walk down the street which was never the case with stock exhaust.

I always thought people who complain about the system just did a poor job installing it.

Hopefully, this discussion will help the OP and thanks for sharing the info you have shared.
