Don't ask don't get.
My 535d is in for service so I asked if I could get a G30 to trial. They managed to get me the sales managers car 540i and I must say I'm impressed I know what I will be having next.

Nice!
Definitely a petrol for me next. I am on my last diesel.

I actually hate the Nav as its just stuck on the dash and the rear quarter looks like a Volvo, don't get me wrong it's moved forward in a lot of areas but not so in others.
I also think it's now too big, the current 5 is a big car but this is bigger again. If the 3 series was more refined and had a better quality interior I would have one, maybe the new model will be better |

I assumed that a 4 series slotted inbetween the 3 & 5 size wise. My F10 feels a lot bigger than my old e90, how much bigger is the 4? |

I hate the sat-nav screen as well. It looks home-made to me, albeit by someone who was very good at that sort of thing. |

Terrible sat nav on the new BMW's. Looks like an afterthought, rather than the usual elegance. Nice looking car, petrol for me next too - I'm after a 7 next though.

I drove one prior to going back to another F10, and tbh I didn't think it had moved on positively, the nav sticking up I do not like, touchscreen no one is using because the screen is too far away.
Not saying I won't buy one in the future, but the F10 is a nice looking beast, I could have the 535d and it was over £15k cheaper, and I have not looked back. In fact, even as a BM officianardo, I struggle to tell the difference on the motorway when looking at others, so if I cannot see the difference, most of the world won't!

Thanks for sharing,,,
All I got was a new X1 1.8 x-drive with 140 miles on the clock last week when mine went in. Apart from it being nicely specked the ride and power was not good at all... So used to the 535d I was expecting a little more... |

Looks like it's a split decision on like and unlike, Im not sure on the touch screen didn't use it don't think I would either rather use the controller like normal.

I have managed to get a G30 for a weeks trial so am looking forward to a direct comparison, not sure what spec or engine but it's the refinement that interests me the most.

Just collected a G30 520D SE as a loan car.
Rather disappointed with the new model, OK so its a 20D and I am used to a 30D and its SE where mine is M Sport Plus however... The sat nav is a step back as it just sits there on the dash, I keep wanting to look behind it as it stands quite high and blocks the top of the dash The instrument cluster is nice but as I have the MFD on mine its pretty much the same The shape of the car is ugly from the rear door to the back of the car The refinement seems the same as the F10 not any quieter I would say that the SE seats are an improvement over the previous SE seats but not tried the M Sport seats Generally the build quality seems worse as the exterior panels are quite flexible and less robust, the interior is OK but for me not a step forwards. Its a bigger car which I think is unnecessary If you have a 3/4 series then I can see why you would like it but if you have a decent spec F10 then its nothing to get excited about. Maybe a better spec car with a 30D or better help but I think the F10 is here to stay for me. |

^^ Nice review! I sat in one and my exact sentiment..not blown away by the G30. Some might say those of us in a F10 will have impartial views but IMHO it's like upgrading from an iphone 6S to an iphone 7. It is an evolutionary design rather than revolutionary. And what's with the new taillight design..ain't my cuppa tea..look too much like a Honda City.
And BMW exterior designers are getting more and more confused with each model across the range that is out. For instance the new 2018 X3 headlights now no longer merge with the gigantic kidney grills which can only be a good thing. Last edited by bounty78; 06-28-2017 at 09:30 PM.. |

With the huge discounts on offer, and the 0% finance in the UK, when my 535D is due for changing I think I might look at a 7 series.
They really impress me, although I haven't driven one. |

4 Series is on a 3 series chassis, so its the same size. Biggest of the 3/4 range is the 3GT which is on the 3 series LWB chassis.

Need to take into account service and parts costs on the 7 though. If you thought 5 series was bad......also the depreciation is colossal on the 7 as well compared to the 5. Look at used ones.... A year old, mint and low mileage and they are half the cost of new.
