Retro fit Sport Automatic Transmission?
Picked up a new F11 535D this evening - totally gutted that the broker I used managed not to order flappy paddles as requested on BMW configurator and I missed it on the confirmation sheet that they sent back to me for signature.
Anyone care to guess if this could be a simple retro fit? C'mon I need cheering up after tonight |

I'd be gutted as well...
I suppose anything can be done, but at what cost? The problem as I see it, you may be able to make a paddle conversion (new wheel and wire it in) but the whole sport transmission package, revised software, DDC control with i-Drive configurations for sport features, (throttle, steering and faster changes) will be missing. Unless you go the whole distance and get a BMW garage involved. I see mega ££££'s for that. Also consider warranty implications for doing any work outside BMW. HighlandPete |

It would be cheaper to sell the car and get another one.

I read a few years back that people who wanted to add the paddle shifters on a 3 series could do so. The wiring in the wheel was present, as was the mounting point to add the actual levers. On the 3 series, I believe there was no actual difference in the transmission, where I understand that is not the case on the F10, although it may be just a software change to speed the gear shifts.
Paul edit: just found this link for 3 series... http://www.burgertuning.com/paddleshift.html Maybe they can be of assistance. Don't give up yet!

Thanks for the replies. I have an M sport model and the cost for flappy paddles was only an extra £110.00. The code is 2TB for "sport automatic transmission". I'm hoping that the revised software, DDC control with i-Drive configurations for sport features, (throttle, steering and faster changes) will be there already. Let's see what tomorrow brings.

Looks like this is unfortunately going to be the course of action. I suppose it's going to cost me a great deal of money to do the swap but atm my intention is to go ahead with it. I am furious - of course.
