With your extended climate, did you have the basic one before and was it just a case of replacing the unit as i've read, and did everything work as intended?

Yes, I had basic one previously.
Extended one is PNP. When you install it first time, nothing works properly. You will have to let the car sleep for 1-2 hours and then if you try, it works flawlessly.

There are some errors which can only be read on coding laptop. I never explored it further.

Additional benefits:
1- You can adjust speed of fan on passenger side.
2- You can select different ventilation level to what driver has. For example passenger can have air coming from lower vents whereas driver can have it from top vents.

It is only useful if you have frequent passenger in your car otherwise its not true value for money.

yes I think it will be useful for me. Can you let me know where you got the unit from, was it eBay? Which version did you get?

Yes, I have purchased from fleabay. I do not think that version was any concern so whatever came on flebay, I bought it. And it worked.
So not sure which version I have.

On a negative side, display screen on advanced CC is smaller than standard one so people with poor vision may struggle.

one thing I'm unsure of is how the automatic air recirc feature would work. Presumably the car needs some sort of "Sniff sensor" to tell it to recirculate the air, does the car have this even though it doesn't have the extended climate from the factory?

Not sure about that. Can you explain what is that?

I think 1 or 2 sensors are less in cars with basic CC and therefore there are errors when you scan the car.

The auto recirculation means that it switches from drawing in fresh air to heat or cool and pump around the car, to recirculating the air already in the car. Normally on most cars, you select manually whether you want recirc air or fresh air, and you would change to recirc if there was a bad smell outside or driving through smoke or something. Auto recirc does this automatically so it has a sensor to detect the incoming air and sense whether its smelly or smoky or dirty and then change to recirculating air if it is. The base climate doesn't have this, i had it on my old car and it was good, but i figured that just upgrading the unit would not add the sensors that are needed for this. However I am unsure if all cars are built with the sensor, and that it only works with the extended climate unit.

Thank for explaining it.
Problem is that I have never left the CC on auto so I cannot confirm this.
If I leave it on auto, compressor light is always on whatever temp I select.

Dead pedal

Did you have to do any mess around to get the dead pedal - footrest to fit?

I see they are only supposed to fit LHD cars?

They'll fit.
If you are perfectionist then you will have to trim the plastic on the left side of pedal for it to sit flush.

Weather is improving and managed to get some time to work on my car.

Followings were done today
1- Tunning of bit one (Nearly there!)
2- LCI M5 Grills fitted
3- Folding mirrors retrofitted

Very happy with folding mirrors and dip on reverse is very useful if you have immaculate wheels. I had folding mirrors on my last two bmws so missed it badly. Glad I managed to retrofit it.

Hi Mak

Do you have any pics of the new grills on the car? Interested to see how they look.

Cheers

Car is in garage and I am getting OEM xenon retrofitted.
Once I get it back, I'll take some photos and post here.

Looking good man. I'm liking the aggressive front with double slat grill and M5 bumper.

Thanks for the compliment.
I have spent £4-5k on it
(Wheels and audio biggest culprits)

But it puts smile on my face every time I drive and get attraction wherever I take it.

I have ordered bmw oem m5 indicators as replicas have some condensation built now.
So hopefully oem indicators will do the job.

Reverse camera and interface ordered as well

Nearly there and then I'll start getting bored....

Updates:
- M5 side indicators were replicas therefore it started getting condensation. I did not like it so inquired re: OEM side indicators. After 10% discount a pair cost £100.
Ordered and fitted but OEM indicators did not work. I compared both OEM and after market indicators and both had single diode emitting light through light tube (similar to halo rings). I could not find any difference. Asked on few forums and nobody had idea.

Sat down and started thinking as bmw engineer! If you were making M5 then you had to make things slightly differently so people could not replicate it.
Few possibilities
1- Different light module
2- Different pin numbers on light module
3- Different polarity on the connector

Started with simplest thing and reversed the polarity. Viola! It worked. So bmw made reverse polarity on M5 wing indicators. All working now and condensation free wing indicators.

- Reverse Camera installed. Although seller told me that it has CCD sensor and its best camera but I am not happy with the results. My E90 camera gave better results. So two possibilities;
1- Camera sensor is not as good as what I had on my E90.
2- F10 CIC screen is bigger compared to e9x CIC therefore you feel difference in terms of quality.

I may order another camera from German company and see if that make any difference.
