The locals complained that when they see that single red light in the fog, their heart rate hits max and the brake-or-no-brake decision has to be made instantly. I'm not going to update my car with this switch. I have no idea what US drivers would think if they ever saw the rear fog light on US roads.
I tend to disagree with this, fog lights work great in thick fog especially on mountain roads, i have never confused them with break lights. the only time the drive me nuts is when people ignorant people use them in the rain, do not use your rear fogs in the rain or have them on when there is no fog.

Thank you for the reply. Unfortunately, i do not know what "rain" is...I live in San Diego. We have no such thing.

If you come to WA, especially Seattle area, then you will realize how important the rear fog light is. I had been hit couple times from rear due to the bad visibility by fog and "heavy rain".

Oh, one thing I missed, SNOW!

I'm a big fan of rear fog lights, having lived 3 years in Belgium and seeing first-hand the benefit of using them. Following the excellent instructions on this site, I just acquired and installed the necessary switch to activate the rear fog lights on my F10. Brilliant, and thanks!

I just purchased the switch from a European BMW parts department for about 82 EUR ($110 USD). Here is the web site:
http://www.online-teile.com/bmwmc/pr...eit-licht.html

The web site is navigable even if you read no German. If you use PayPal to check out, as I did, the web site zeroes VAT and does not charge shipping. Only a few minutes have passed since I have placed my order, so I may receive an email from the dealership telling me that they made a mistake by selling the part to me without VAT and shipping, in which case I will report back to you that this did not work so well. Please find the order receipt attached to this post as proof that it seems to have worked, so far.

Yeah, I thought that I had found a good deal....82 EUR, no VAT, and no shipping. I guess they found their mistake and that ended my daydream

Just received mine. Not the most handy guy, so I'm wondering if there are any tips for removing the panel? On the video he uses a screw driver and towel, but I'm afraid of breaking or scratching something. Thanks

Was very easy to install.

Now I need the Euro headlights and tail lights with the yellow indicators.

Any tips?

Lee - if you're in Germany, don't you already have those? Also, I didn't know there was a difference between North American and Euro headlights. How do they differ (if you know)?

AFAIK, the only option for a Euro F10 taillight conversion is the White Lines (Leebmann BMW in Passau probably has the best price I've seen: http://www.leebmann24.de/heckleuchte...w-5er-f10.html), which have clear lenses, but everything is otherwise the same, as even the standard rear Euro red lamps have amber blinkers. Thanks.

Folks - wondering if anyone with a 2014 or later LCI F10 has installed a Euro head lamp/fog lamp dash control unit (ie the switch assembly) in order to make the built-in rear fog lamps operable? If so, what part number worked? I have read that BMW part no. 61319192744 (the control element assembly that definitely works for pre-LCI F10s) may not work properly on LCI F10s. Can this be confirmed or repudiated?
Thanks!

I just installed it on my newly acquired 2016 F10. Above part # is still it and ECS Tuning have them in stock.

Make sure it is the exact one for your year and don't rely on their web site. I ordered a set of TPMS sensors from their web page that said they would fit and were for my model year. They weren't and I am now stuck with the wrong sensors and am out ~$250! IMHO their web site is misleading.

I did my homework and double-checked everything.

I got the right switch and tested everything after the install. All is good.

I have been a customer of ESC over 10 years and they always took care of me if something went wrong.

Glad it worked for you!! They weren't at all helpful with me. I now do business elsewhere.

Thanks TTG - appreciate the info. I have purchased a gently used switch from this eBayer (mychecker24) in Germany and a friend is bringing it back with him in a few days when his German holiday is over. Not bad for about $80 less than the new part at ECS.

That is a great deal. Let us know after the install.

I usually order my parts from Europe as well and just bring them home with me but this time I grew a bit impatient.

I might still get me a set of Euro tails when I am on that side of the pond.

I hate the red N. American blinkers which should only belong to old domestic cars
