My 5 has oyster interior and the lighting is very noticeable. The 3 has a black interior and the lighting is barely visible so I do think interior color plays a role.
Also you can always remove the door panel and check everything is hooked up properly. Maybe the strip is broken or something (although unlikely if its happening on all doors.) |

Umm it's pretty simple the settings for the light brightness you can also change ot Too white is on your idrive screen on max settings its still not crzy bright but much brighter that what yours is on its someone on the screen just find it i keep mine on 100% its a special setting it say ambient lighting its not tour screen brightness

Go in idrive option for lightining there is adjustable option in there for this. My friend car has this option in his idrive and he can change color as well to white.
