BMW Performance Exhaust F10 550xi

Does BMW make a performance exhaust system for the F10 550xi? If yes, anyone have it installed?

It does not look like they have one.
Went to shopBMWusa.com and selected your parts , no exhausts

Another option would be the Active Aiutowerke one

Not BMW directly, unless you just want to put the M5 mufflers on there. But there are lots of other awesome options. AA is great, Akropovic (sp?), Eisenmann, etc.. Lots of threads on it.

That's the M5 one. It can be fitted just a lot more work. Not a direct 550 replacement. The exhaust pipes are different sizes so you have to get custom pipes made and fitted, IIRC. A few people have done it.

Either way, an exhaust upgrade won't void any warranty/service on your car.

Correct, but this seems to be the closest BMW OEM Performance option, before turning to the aftermarket products. There is some work necessary with the pipes and also M5 quads are shifted more towards center than the 5-series ones. Who installed the M5 diffuser or exhaus or both, learned it well (so did I).

Therefore I can suggest at least three solutions here. If you want to stick to BMW Performance, you can either work out full M5 Perf. catback (like shown by the link I provided), or just take the axleback (less work). And finally, forget about the OEM and go for a good and well fit aftermarket exhaust designed for 550.

Thanks to everyone for your help. I'm not necessarily looking to stay OEM, I'm just looking for something that lets me hear the exhaust note but isn't too aggressive as this is my daily driver. I put the Dinan system on my 335, I was a bit disappointed, I found it didn't give me much more of an exhaust note than stock. It looks like the AA set-up for the 550 is sold out. I'll look at some of the other after market systems.

Anyone have experience with the Dinan N63 TU exhaust? Is it quite tame or does it let you hear that V-8?

Thanks

Bard

You should go for a sure thing, something like eisenmann or meisteschaft. I don't believe they are just straight through mufflers, so the manipulate your stock sound.

I suggest eisenmann race, since they manufacture OEM AMG and Porsche exhausts. I can't get over how successful and expensive meisterschaft has become, considering their tarred reputation. If you can get a good deal, their system sounds great also.

From my research, the Eisenmann Race seems to be the best compromise for a great sound but not as much drone (if any) or totally obnoxious noise (which isn't a bad thing! ). Downpipes will add a bunch too, so I think with that combo I'll be quite happy.
