Replacement HUD windscreen
Yesterday my windscreen got badly chipped by a stone. I`m concerned that it cant be repaired and BMW have quoted me over £1000 for a new windscreen. I do have an option to use Auto Glass, but has anyone ever had a replacement HUD windscreen from them and was it any good...I have heard reports that the HUD will not display properly when Auto Glass fit a replacement windscreen.
Does anyone have any experience of AG HUD windscreens ?? |

No experience I am afraid, however Autoglass will repair to 100% original spec, even with a BMW screen for the price of your glass excess do not worry.

Hold fire on getting it repaired; can you post an image of the damage (pref with an object new to it to get some idea of scale, and to help get good resolution).
In the meantime, stick a small square of sticky tape over the impact point to prevent water ingress. |

No difference in clarity or sharpness of the HUD display - both screens are made by Pilkington and, quite probably, in the same factory. My choice was between paying £175 insurance excess for an AG replacement or £1,400 for a little BMW logo in the lower LH corner of the screen.
