F10 Trailer hitch

Recently picked up mountain biking and found a great deal on a 2” Thule bike carrier but only found 2 receiver options for the F10. They are both 568.00 which is more than the carrier. Just curious to know what everyone else is using???? Any help would be appreciated!

BMW roof rack w/ BMW bike racks. They look and behave like Thule racks. I'm sure they were much less than your quoted price when I bought them, but then again, that was 9 years ago.

Nice rides!!! I’ll look into the roof rack option. Didn’t even think about that first. How hard are the bikes to load? I plan on doing some out of state traveling do you think the racks would hold up?

I'm 5'7" and have no probs loading my bike on the roof rack. The racks themselves are rock solid, and I've had two bikes travelling at 75mph on the racks with no issues, travelling 2-3 hours at a time. The racks that attach to the roof are simple to install - takes me five minutes +/- The bike rack slides into the slots in the roof rack, and then locks down. The bikes also lock to the rack. I can definitely recommend them.

On a related note, what Thule hitch bike rack are you looking at? I acquired a Ford Ranger and am now using it for camping. I'm looking at a hitch rack for two bikes, and there are many options that range in price from cheap to ridiculously expensive. Of course, Thule racks are usually the latter but I trust their quality.

Rei has an T2 on sale for 395 plus tax. I actually ordered it and it's eating for me to pick up but ima let it go back. Just ordered the roof rack from BMW. Should be ready for pickup today.

Got it installed. Install videos left out a few details. Pretty frustrating but it's on. Pretty sturdy. I'm just afraid of forgetting the bike is up there but since I'm so paranoid I probably won't.

Awesome! Yep, I do now recall that setting it up for the first time was painful, as I had to fiddle with both ends of each bar so that they aligned with the roof mounting points. The good news is that I haven't had to touch those settings again in the 9 years I've had the rack, and it is now quite easy to install every time.

Quick tip if yours is like mine - store the racks (when not in use) with the plastic covers closed and locked keeping the bolts inside. I found that the bolts that screw into the mounts can pop out quite easily, and you can lose the cam that fits under the bolt that secures the bolt to the rack.

Last point - a few cars ago, I drove my car & bike which was on the roof rack into a carport. Bike and car were damaged. The roof rack was not (also an older Thule rack).

Just wanted to add….I have a 2.5 29inch front tire and the tire carrier that the rack comes in is fitted to 2.5. It mounted fine but at Highway speed the bike was a little wobbly. I changed the front carrier with the fat bike carrier and it worked like a charm! Just thought I'd share.
