G-series? F-series?
Well it is about time for me to thinking about changing the car again. Thinking about the new models like G01 X3.
Previously, the major differences to me, between the E-series and F-series was that that E-series was vulnerable for key fob cloning. I can't help to wonder what is the fundamental differences between the G-series and F-series? |

I think you need to test drive a G30, ideally one with lowered passive MSport suspension and one with normal height with VDC. Ignore the gimmicky new tech and just focus on the ride, handling and overall refinement.
The ride / handling balance in the G30 is much better resolved than in the F10. Exactly which setup is best out of the 2 suggested, is probably a matter of personal taste. Lots of people will give you their views at length in the G30 sub-forum ! HTH |

I had a test drive of a G30 520D SE on 18" Wheels with standard suspension. If actually felt lighter on it's feet, didn't have the same "floaty" suspension of the F10 SE. It is noticeably quieter and more refined too. I insisted on driving the car on roads I know so it was easy to compare the two.
I would have put an order in there and then if they'd offered me something sensible for my current car.

It's like they've taken all the unwanted play/slack out of the suspension.
Now that they've done that, the impacts through runflats are better suppressed. And now that's achieved, there is no need to fear MSport suspension. Ditching the runflats still brings a bit more buttery smoothness, but it's not essential like - IMHO - it was on the F10. |
