Gearbox Reset

My gearbox shifts are getting a bit clunky, I read on here a procedure to reset it but can't seem to find the post now...

Can someone please post up how I do this?

its something along the lines of holding down the gas pedal for a length of time whilst the ignition is on (but engine not running obviously!). I'm sure someone will be able to confirm on these forums.

However, I'm not sure if this an urban myth or really does make any difference???

If its jerky , that might be mechanical issues rather than any "adaptive" settings in the software. If its under warranty, I'd get the dealer to check it out before it potentially becomes an expensive repair job.

any pattern to the issue? cold mornings?, all the time?
mileage / age of car?

Nah maybe clunky was the wrong word to use, it's just holding the gears a little longer in D than it used to so it's not as smooth as when it would shift up quicker. Had the same with previous BMW's and a reset did the trick, for a while anyway...

Reset before driving home from work, did the job. Gearbox now shifting up a lot quicker under light/medium acceleration.

FYI, this is soft reset and does not really resolve any issues AFAIK. More sort of placebo effect.
