39 here! like others have said, the older gentlemen 35+ typically drive the newer 5 series while the younger generation drive the older models or something funner like a 3 series. I see the samething here in atlanta

Everyone older than 20 is old to a 20 year-old…… So to the original question and observation:

"I'm thinking along the lines of older. "

Yes, "older." In fact, I think this thread has proven that there is exactly one person on the entire planet younger than the OP driving a 5 series

I am 39 now and this is my first 5 series. I had a handful of 3 series cars dating back to 2001. Personally I didn't want a 5 series in my 20's even though I was fortunate enough to be able to afford one. Not sure why a 20 something would prefer a big mid sized sedan over a sporty, 6 speed manual coupe. The 5 series is my compromise as I have 2 kids now. Once they hit a certain age and I'm done with booster seats, it's back to a coupe, most likely a 6 series (I prefer the coupe to the GC).

Why would a 20 something want a 5? Because I sit in bumper to bumper traffic 1 hour each way and things like comfort ventilated seats and a properly balanced sound system outweigh rock hard suspension and flimsy plastic interiors. I took my F10 on a track day and it wasn't terrible. I hear you on the 6GC though But I'd buy a Tesla S before spending 90K on a 640GC. The GC is just 15K more than it should be when loaded with necessary toys.

Same here hence my username LOL!

Anywhoooo... in my 40's but because I'm Asian I look like I'm in my 20's sportin' full tattoo sleeves and spikey hair! Nothing worse than a young high school hottie trying to smile and flirt with me when she doesn't realize I'm old enough to be her dad!

Was 55 based on an actual stat somewhere?
I work in the Auto Industry and got the number from Strategic Vision. Their stats show the average age of a BMW owner at 49 years old. Audi at 48, Mercedes is at 52, and Cadillac at a whopping 65.

Thank you. Like I said, thought it would be just a little lower, but it's not exactly shocking either.

And holy hell 65 lol. With all the years so far trying to get to the younger crowd, the big ole caddy's still carry their load I guess.

I got my first car when I was 17 and it was a e60 2008 528XI alpine white on saddle brown. But I now have my f10 2015 535i xDrive and I'm 21 also my brother has an F10 550i and he's 24 and my cousin has an F10 M5 and he's 18. So I guess it kind of depends on which 5 series you get.

are you going to load the data points and calculate a median/avg for this forum?

my guess is 33 for here.

My data point is 47 and this is my first 5 series. 55 makes sense based on what I see on the road.
