There's a bunch of stuff on the "J-Pipe" as AMTF10 noted in the forums. Just search helmholtz resonator. The premise is the 1/4 wave length of the sound to cancel out certain frequency ranges of any unwanted resonance. I'm going to try this as a last resort before I potentially go to a M5 muffler set up with the valves from my Megan M5 Supremos.

ETA: I wonder if potentially wrapping the piping will help with the damping of the resonant frequency? But you may risk quieting the exhaust altogether.

I can tell you it definitely cut out the drone in the exact RPM range I was targeting.

can you tell me exactly how you did it? i have a 2014 550i with straight pipe, it has drones at 2000rpm.
