Hey guys,

I normally been posting in the e90 section for the last few years but Ill be selling my latest one and moving on to a F10. Had a few questions:

535i vs 550i - any difference outside of the obvious motor? Interior or options that are not possible in the 535i?

Anything to be aware of, issue/problem wise, on either?

And lastly, on the 550i, I thought it was a twin scroll SINGLE turbo. Is that the case? Im finding downpipes that are a set of two. I don't really know how you would manifold a single turbo on a V8 but Im not sure.

Sorry for new questions, I know everything there is to know about the e9x N54 platform but thats about it.

I came from an F30 335i and after testing the 535i, although beatiful, I found it to feel a bit under powered after coming from the more nimble F30 body. Take your motor put it in a bigger heavier car....you might be a little disappointed. That aside the 535i is an amazing car.

However, once I drove the 550i the car made much more sense to me power to weight wise. I felt the true upgrade of the 5 over the 3.... interior wise they are similar looking but as a bigger guy I find the 550i to be much more comfortable and luxurious than my sporty feeling F30. I do miss my F30's Coral Red Leather though

Don't buy a 550i without a warranty though the car does have its quirks. Otherwise I'm of the mindset that its a great car and as long as repairs are covered under warranty ftw.

550i is a twin turbo V8 set up not single to answer your question.

Feckin thanks for the input! The exact reason why Im selling my 3 and going to a 5 is the interior room. I am buying a house and will need to daily drive my car and there was no way I was doing that in a 3. When you are comparing interiors in you post were you doing that from the 3 to 5? Or from 535i to 550i? There can't be any difference between the 535i and 550i, right?

I also would prefer the V8 but I wouldn't keep the 535i stock if I bought it and I know on the N55 platform I can make stock 550i HP easily and for not that much. and thanks on the twin turbo, it seemed strange that they would do a single on V setup. Thanks again.

I went from an n54 powered e90 to a 550i and all I can say is the 550i does have gobs of power stock. However the ride was not engaging but I fixed that with a set of eibach springs now I feel more connected with the road.

The 550i is ridiculously quiet for a TT v8. I chopped of my resonator for an x-pipe and cut off the vacuum tips and got a little more sound but not much more. I'm solving that issue with an oem m5 exhaust.

The interior screams luxury and there is a ton of space inside. Build quality is so much better compared to a 3 series. Get the 550i and with a little bit of tweaking you won't regret it.
