BimmerFile got time to sit down with a beautiful example of the new 2011 BMW 5-series and wrote up a nice post sharing their thoughts. Here are some select quotes, but follow the jump for the full blog post

Quote:
Most photos do not do these undulations justice, as the peaks and valleys on the hood are very impressive and give a hint at the car’s sporting intentions. Like all recently introduced BMWs the front twin kidneys have grown to allow the choice of engines to be cooled effectively and to offset the look of the new pedestrian safety requirements as per the EU.

Quote:
Throughout the exterior there are little nuances, such as little spoilers on the rear lights that are not only there for design language but for aerodynamics. BMW worked this car over thoroughly in the wind tunnel to make it as slippery as possible.
Quote:
The interior of this new model follows the lead from the 7 Series and 5 GT and it is just stunning.
Quote:
If looks and build quality are any indication of how this car will drive, BMW has a hit.

Interesting, any pics of these little spoilers?

Interesting, any pics of these little spoilers?
I assume it's like the creases on the tail light of the X6.

These should look very similar to the ones on the current 6er.

Am I the only one who notices differences with this particular vehicle with others regarding the air vents.

In the press photos and at the Portugal press event, the air vents had silver trim around it. This one does not.

That's because the F10 with the 4 zone climate control model comes with the silver around the vents. models with the normal dual zone climate control only come without the silver trim over and under the center dash air vents.

That seems kind of odd. Why would they do that? What does having four zone climate have to do with silver trim. It's not like it adds sportiness or anything.

EDIT: After looking at the photos taken by Motortrend, their test car DID NOT have 4 zone climate has seen in the rear photos, but yet the car has the silver trim around the air vents.

Are you sure that is what the issue is here?

BMW temporarily lent it to Toyota's quality-control department as a benchmark.

The whole press photo looks very photochopped to me--especially after they airbrushed out the brake peda1

I've been sitting in 530d yesterday......

It is not possible to match car from the photos and the car that I've seen.

On pics, it looks very dull.

But when you see it standing in saloon.......I was astonished.

The car is huge, beautiful lines, perfect interior.......

It could be- I honestly wrote down bamboo but the more I look at it the more it does not look like the bamboo from the X5.... my error and my apologies.

How come the dash under the windscreen and the wheel seem to be brown? Is it an option?
