535i non-Msport versus Msport Fog Lights

Is there a difference between the foglights on the non-Msport 535i sedan and the Msport (other than appearance / shape)?

You can see that the outer lens cover on the fog light housing is a different shape on the non-Msport compared to the Msport. Is this the only difference?

What is meant by projection fog lights? I've heard this term used in reference to the M-sport fog lights.

Thanks.

Yes, M sports use H11 bulbs (55 watt) where non M-Sports use H8 bulbs (35 watt).

I've noticed that some have swapped out their stock bulbs for alternative choices like super white or yellow, etc.

What have some of you done and why?

Thanks.

Stock color bulbs are yellowish and don't match headlights. This bothers people like myself and I'll be swapping fog bulbs to match too.

Please let us know what you are replacing the stock bulbs with. I now understand the stock fog light bulbs for the M-tech fog bulbs are "H11". However I do not know the respective stock wattage.

In searching for alternative replacement bulbs one can find the H11 but with a variety of corresponding wattages that range from 3500 to 7500 to 8500. Consequently, I do not know the end result of using any one of the referenced varieties of wattages available and its effect, or lack thereof, on potential error codes or heat damage on the fog light housing as a result.

H11 is 55watts.

The "3500/7500/8500" are color temp. The ideal would be 6000K whick will closely match the car's hid light.

I had tried out Mtech, GPThunder & PIAA. All those brands are garbage and the first two lasted about 1 year and the coatings peeled off.

The only brand I have not tried is Hoen. The bulb is made in S. Korea and I have heard it's not bad, based on the price.
