TPMS Sensors

I had a flat a couple of days ago and the car warned me that I had low tire pressure on the front driver side (left) tire except the flat was on the front passenger side (right). When I took it in to get the tire replaced, the service advisor swore up and down that there must be a problem with the left tire also. I guess the car made a liar out of him.

But how is it possible for the car to get it wrong? Could it be that the tires/wheel are hard-coded to a side or my wiring harness is crisscrossed?

Possibly the tires were rotated from left to right after resetting/learning the TPMS????
