Hey y'all it's been a minute. Just want to maybe help someone out on how to not blow your PS2 early.
Recently I heard a terrible sound and suddenly lost a little bit of power. That was followed by a horrible whining sound almost like a siren when I accelerated. I thought I blew a charge pipe but after I got under the car all the pipes were fine. I thought it may have been the clutch and luckily I just had that replaced by a dealership but after having the master mechanic listen to my engine with the hood open it was clear the turbo was whining. I think the way that I blew the bearing in the turbo was my flash settings. I had the downpipe settings configured wrong. I have my stock downpipe on because I recently got smog'd. I think I caused too much back pressure and too much heat and killed the bearing. So be very aware if you're running your stock downpipe with a tune. The good news is I'm replacing the turbo with a new PS2 and the upgraded pure turbo pneumatic wastegate. You can bet your ass l'll be running a DP until smog time. https://www.pureturbos.com/store/bmw...-actuator.html HMU if someone is selling a DP or knows of good deals. As always watch out for other common failures: - oil starvation - debris in the oil - debris through bad air filter - high heat due to back pressure, running a stock cat - overboost, bad tune - don't idle for too long on cold start - don't get on it until your car is at operating temps

Wow! How recently did you get smog'd - how many miles did you drive with the stock DP before this happened?

Got smogged a few months ago but the stock DP has been on for about 10k. I drive pretty hard too. All my friends and family don't like to be in the car with me and I'm ok with that.
