not to offend anyone? what the heck is that supposed to mean? you can't just insult legions of people and neutralize it with four moronic words.

I guess I should clarify. On BMWConfig the base 2012 invoice is $42,695 while the base 2011 is $41,445. So the base 2012 is $1,250 more. Its when I add the options I wanted that the 2011 comes out $350 more than the similarly equipped 2012.
Also remember that BMW took some of the 2011 528i options and made them standard on the 2012 528i - Xenon/Adaptive headlights, Ambiance lighting, auto dimming mirrors, USB/iPod adapter. So this probably accounts for some of the base price increase. |

The 0-60mph 0.4s "advantage" is soooo misleading.
The 5-60mph - more real world - will be the same as the N52 528i, around 7s. I drove the N20 and *hated it*. It doesn't sound like a BMW should. For all is given up, one mpg (city) is a price too big. |

Forgive me, but wouldn't a 4 cylinder turbo fair worse than a NA inline 6 at 0-5?

The turbo four will FARE fairly well off the line, because of the torque curve, which provides much more at low RPM than the NA engine does. On the other hand, there's no way that 5-60, properly tested, would be slower than 0-60.
