Question regarding amount of miles until next service...

My question is in relation to the indicator in the dashboard. When I bought my car in June, and the car had 9 miles on it, the car indicated I had 15,000 miles to go until my next service. When I hit 1,000 miles, the indicator changed to 14,000 miles. I'm now at about 2800 miles, but the indicator still says 14,000 miles to go for my next service appointment.

I guess I have 2 questions: 1. It should be at 13,000 (about to change to 12,000), right?? 2. Should the meter be more exact to the miles...and not always be an even 15,000 or 14,000. Specifically, say I have 2803 miles on my car, shouldn't the indicator say 12,197.

I only ask because I'm bringing my car in tomorrow to have the 'pulling to the right issue' fixed, and I wasn't sure if I should bring this up. Thanks.

It should adapt to your driving behavior.

Mine went from 15,000 > 14,000 after 800 miles.

A loaner car is at 14,000 with 2,000 miles on the odometer.

With all of that said, do you really want to go 15k miles without changing the oil?

Thanks. It sounds like mine is working properly then. Just wanted to make sure.

I don't plan on relying on it for oil changes, etc...but had it been broken, I wanted it looked at.

Condition Based Servicing (CBS)

It depends on your driving style and also usage. For example, a long period of regular motorway driving and significantly increase the service interval. And conversely, aggressive city or track driving and reduce the interval very quickly. After about 5000 miles the indication becomes very accurate and is less sensitive to day-to-day changes in behaviour/usage.

My car (F10 550) has 4600 miles and it says 12,000 before service. It is mostly highway miles though. However, when I checked the oil level, it is very close to the minimum line already.
