Re the displays you have 3 options:

1. Leave as standard - gets you the analogue dials and needles.

2. Black Panel Display - gets you electronic displays for the speedo/revs and additional LCD panel across the bottom of the display showing additional info. Dials backgrounds are electronic, but not the needles - see here

3. Multifunction Display - full LCD/TFT background and dials with various options depending on which mode you're in. see here.

It's funny though, I was looking at an almost identical spec as you on a 520d M-Sport Touring. Then had a look at the 530d, found out that pro nav was included, as was ambient lighting. Sports Auto was only a couple hundred extra (auto as standard). Couple other bits and pieces. I basically asked them to quote a stripped back 530d with M-Sport Plus with folding mirrors. £1 a day more than the spec'd up 520d. Couldn't resist.

I'm in on Tuesday to do the paperwork. Will have to check out the difference on the black panel display. I quite fancy that now.

The 530D is available as a Luxury Line (hence the Free Satnav, Ambient lighting, etc...) I am not sure, but I think the Blackpanel display is now standard with the Luxury Line (double check, I am not 100% sure). You may want to look at the additional Multi Functional Display - now that is what is really cool !

I've got the book in front of me now gapannu and the Black Panel Display is only standard on the ActiveHybrid models or if you choose HUD that seems to infer you get the display at zero cost included. Multifunction is not standard anywhere in the range (except M5 maybe?) but is only £255 with HUD.

You are probably correct, because I ordered the HUD, the multi function only cost me £255 extra... Worth every penny for the wow factor !

I went for the M-Sport, but the Pro Nav was free with the 530d, not with the 520d. On the M-Sport certainly, not sure about other specs. Well it was for me.

Also, the Black Panel is a £115 option, compared to the £500+ for the multi-function.

I'm pushed enough anyway, so any extras I go for from here need to be paid for in the deposit, so the black panel will do fine, as slick as the HUD and multifunction would be. I just can't justify that extra expense. The near £50k motor will be the wow enough factor in my life, lol.

That video is epic though. Can I stretch the extra £400?

I specced the Black Panel, but after test drive in one with the multifunction, I just 'had to have it'

Hmmmmmm. Well I do have to make some minor changes anyway. Adding in Reverse Camera and folding mirrors. See if they can add the multi function and be a round £1k...

Very nice spec you've got there!

I was originally looking at a new F30 or F31 but was able to get a better deal on the F10/11. Managed to get a crazy discount through a work based scheme which meant I could get a 5 cheaper than a 3!

Very impressed with the 5 Series I've the 3 and the increased size is going to be great for the family.

I had a budget in my head which I was not prepared to go over no matter what which meant either a nicely spec'd 520 or a sparsely spec'd 530d. Really considered the 528i as a compromise but know I'll be happy 99% of the time with the 520d.

Must admit, so far as the displays go, I prefer the real dials over fully digital version which is why I went of the black panel over the full £500 jobbie.

Some of the vids I've seen look like it's a bit laggy? Don't know if that's the case though? Beancounter, how do you find it?

Look forward to seeing some pics when it arrives!

Not got it yet B33M3R, just specced it. The car I test drove it was in real time and didn't exhibit any sign of lag that I could see to be honest. Will report again once I take delivery (circa 4 weeks)

I have not oticed any lag in my MFID in my new LCI 535.

Could just be the vids I saw when researching. Analogue dials seemed a bit like the FPS was low which put me off finding the extra cash. Not seen them in real life though so I'm sure you're correct. Certainly very swish in any case

Ok, after much deliberation over the last couple of days I've tweaked my order before it was locked in and added a few more toys. I just know if I don't it will probably bug me for the next three years I will have the car!

I've deleted Extended Aircon and Black Panel but instead added

Professional Media Pack
Enhanced Bluetooth
Full Multi Function Instrument Panel

A fair bit more money but I know it will be worth it. I've been watching loads of vids of the Multi Function Panel and it looks fantastic.

Yeah, I tweaked my spec too, so have the multifunction display also now. And got them to throw in the Ski-Bag too. Result.

Couldn't justify the enhanced bluetooth, as much as I'd have liked it. Did you find the cost of the FSC code btw? I noticed you asking in another thread.

Yeah, the display looks very good. Going to be quite a show piece I should imagine and will certainly make the car feel like nothing I've had before.

As for the cost of the FSC code I didn't find that out. But I worked out that the lead would be about £30, apparently it looked liked you may require a token for the ESys software at about £30-£40 unless I've got that wrong then the FSC code on top. Seen reference to maybe $200+?

The enhanced bluetooth with the prof Nav pacakge drops from £430 to £350 and with the discount I get through my work took it down to £262. It kind of priced itself into the equation!

I'm not really all that bothered to be honest though. So long as I can pop music on a USB stick and play that, I'm sorted. If I can do voice calls with BT too, that's all I need. Anything else is just messing about.

The Ski-bag wasn't free as such. I counted up the options I wanted, and they were £1165 list. So I thought, that wasn't good enough, I needed a higher list price to negotiate down to £1000, lol. So added the Skibag taking it to £1300, and figured that 30% was a better discount on options than 16%. That's not actually how it worked out though, as adding them options increased the residual, so they probably gave me no discount anyway. But I put in less than an extra £1k just now for them, so happy enough. I'll worry about the rest in 4 years time.

folding mirrors
MSport plus pack, 19's, spoiler, sun protection and harman kardon
folding mirrors
the full multi media panel display after watching the video above and the tube!

All in pleased as punch. Arrives in 4 weeks I hope.

One question, I have an E60 520d with climate, is the standard air con in the F10 like climate, ie it keeps a constant temperature in the cab?

Nice Spec. Loved the space grey, was between that and Spohisto but wanted to keep mine dark without being black. Three years now of Sapphire Black Metallic has been rewarding but demanding!

You know, I was almost the exact same car originally, with pretty much that spec. Until the dealer told me of the extra dealer contribution on the 530d, and that the pro media was included with the 530d, as was the ambient lighting and auto (£200 more for sports auto). So with them, coupled with the increased residual value, meant on pcp at least, it was only £40 per month more for the 530d (and I was speccing manual on 520d). Which is why I went down that route. Unless it was for pure economy of course?

Love the Space Grey too. Excellent choice.
